In fact one of our intrepid readers noted we’d neglected to mention one of the most serious allegations against the administration of S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley contained in the lawsuit – which was filed by a former executive at the agency.
She was right …
In addition to allegedly “intentionally misleading” S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) investigators and manipulating the process by which the agency’s new director – Cheryl Stanton – was selected, Haley’s cabinet (and the governor’s office itself) also stands accused of engaging in a deliberate effort to deceive legislative leaders tasked with overseeing the embattled agency.

When the Legislature had serious concerns about how public funds at DEW had been spent, the Governor’s office staff trained DEW employees … on how to evade the Legislators’ questions and provide as little information as possible to them when the employees were asked questions.
Whoa …
Up until Stanton’s arrival in May 2013, SCDEW was arguable the worst managed agency in Haley’s cabinet … which is saying something. Its former director, Abraham Turner, resigned last February – just days after FITS exclusively reported about SCDEW doling out $54.5 million in “improper claims” in 2012.
Stanton appeared to have things moving in the right direction, although if the allegations contained in the lawsuit are true – she’s got real problems on her hands as well.

Better to deny her another four years as a reward for her continuous malfeasance since taking office and vote for Sheheen. If he performs as expected, give him the same treatment in four years. If he pleasantly surprises us, let him stay another four.

After reading the text of the lawsuit, you gotta wonder if Stanton gave SLED some false probable cause information to justify SLED’s search of Paul’s car and home. The file she supposedly “stole” was pulled In November, was a file she was authorized to use in the routine course of her HR work, and was not found by SLED to be in her home or car. Lying to SLED, hmm,…is that a problem for Stanton? Oh wait,…she’s an attorney,…she wouldn’t be stupid enough to do that!
But whatta a nice change from her predecessor. Turner was stupid, but not evil,…Santon is NOT stupid, but IS evil.
