I swear (even though I’m a USC alum) that I as much I like the winning thing, I didn’t lose a whole bunch of sleep when we would suck pretty hard for years and years in a row. I just don’t get too apoplectic over this stuff. I will say, though, that of all the funny “Dabo getting spanked by Spurrier” type Photoshop gags I’ve emailed to my Tater friends through the years, the stick figure comic strip of the CU – USC fans talking that Will posted the other day has garnered me more death threats and minor assaults from my Clemson buds than all of the others combined. Even if someone gets in your head, never let them know it…

My friends in Greenville tell me it’s so quiet up there the last few years you could hear a pin drop. From church outings, to golf foursomes, to business breakfast meetings, it’s a breath of fresh air. A bit of a different atmosphere to say the least. Truly fun to be a Carolina fan in the upstate these days. Sour grapes a plenty to go around. Of course the Cocks will lose eventually, but the red asses up there are fun to spank for the moment. Not that the Clemson faithful care, going to BCS bowls and all.

Oh, I keep forgetting Clemson is an “elite” (haha!) “college”. I almost went there. But….My high school councilor said I could do better.
I’m glad you didn’t. Typical ignorance and unwillingness to accept the truth. CU is not an elite school but is it ranked by many sources as much higher than USC. USC will always ride the CU coattail. So get your head out of the sand.
Much higher is a gross exaggeration and it depends on what you’re looking at the school as a whole or disciplines – wanna compare business schools?
3 of the 5 traditional engineering disciplines are ranked higher at USC. Clemson doesn’t have a marine sciences program and USC’s is in the top ten nationally.
Pick a school to attend based on your educational needs. Pick a school to cheer for that doesn’t wear orange.
CU was organized almost a hundred years after Carolina. For a johnny come lately land grant college, modeled after Miss State per your charter, we old Carolina fellows must have started riding your hog washer coattails a little late. How we managed the first 95 years without your guidance is a wonder. Thank God Thomas Tillman was so impressed by the Miss State Farmer’s College. He wanted one for his own.

Not to engage in a pissing contest with a member of the GP on a blog, but I assure you the school I attended was far more selective than Clemson and was a hell of a lot more expensive. I certainly had no loans or financial aide. Clemson and Carolina were both less than a thousand bucks a semester for instate students in the eighties. I honestly didn’t bother to apply to Carolina or Clemson. In those days, with a pulse, I could have gotten into either.
You need a refund from this “far more selective than Clemson” school if you don’t know the difference between aide and aid.

A pitiful outfit like Carolina, with no trophy case, and sad little fans who are always waiting for “next year”, has beaten a much storied, and imminently successful, football dynasty five years in a row. Don’t worry though, I’m sure Clemson will win this year. Six in a row might be too much for even the most ardent Clemson rooter to endure.
