Must we be hypocrites about everything in this state? I mean … since we wanna wear the “Bible Belt” like a badge of honor, shouldn’t some of our actions reflect it? As we head into the 2014 legislative session one week from today, I pray that our elected leaders will one day practice what they preach.
While browsing through countless Christmas cards from my colleagues, complete with Biblical scriptures and picturesque family poses, I was reminded that God can’t be pleased when “the majority” claims to be Christians in one breath and deliberately defies His very essence in the next.
Too many legislative decisions are calculated, self-serving and hypocritical. We wanna separate church and state, but only when it’s politically expedient … pushing God out of our schools, our workplaces, our thoughts/decisions…while hiding behind our self-righteous, self-proclaimed “Christian” labels to push our own destructive political agendas.
Think about it…
Your lawmakers love to protect fetuses in the womb. Why? Because the gift of life is one of God’s most precious, of course. But there’s nothing Godly about our refusal to assist or help protect that same precious life, once it is manifested outside of the womb. In South Carolina, when the umbilical cord is cut, so is the concern and compassion. Funny how one goes from being God’s chosen to society’s forgotten by simply passing through the birth canal.
We love to flaunt our state’s sordid “heritage.” And we’ll fiercely defend that good ole divisive, oppressive and offensive confederate flag at all costs. Now tell me, where is God in all of that, again?
We relish our attention on the national stage. From being #1 in domestic violence homicides to being hailed as one of the most corrupt states in the nation, we’re last (or first at being last) and lovin’ it.
Add to that our newest designation as “most idiotic state” in the country because of one so-called leader’s flagrant dishonor of Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy, and it’s easy to see why we’re the laughing stock of the nation.
And when I receive legislative emails from “Christian” coalitions that spew hatred for others in His name for their own political purposes, I can’t help but wonder what “God” these people serve.
Surely not mine…
We love talking the talk. We just hate walking the walk. And we do our “dirty” work openly, unabashedly,…without flinching, without feeling and without fail.
But my Bible reminds me that “whatever you’ve done unto the least of these… you’ve done unto Me (Him).” So how do we justify denying 300,000 South Carolinians access to healthcare coverage? More proof that in our “great” state, partisan politics trumps “Christianity” not just any day, but every day.
And “you lie!” if you even think we’re interested in accepting or supporting “anything Obama.” It just ain’t happening. No way. No how. Not here. Why? Well … according to Rep. Kris Crawford, it’s not (politically) popular for the Republican Party to even try to work with the black man in the White House.
Yep, that’s good ole pure, unadulterated racism … just one of many “elephants” in the room.
So tell me … where is (your) God in all of that?
Saying we’re Christians is one thing. Behaving like Christians is another. Deliberately disenfranchising voters, denying healthcare, equal educational and economic opportunities to certain South Carolinians, refusing to pass tougher gun laws and failing to protect our state’s most vulnerable are just a few examples of ways in which God’s will has been preempted by power-hungry, good ole politicians who carelessly and callously hide behind His to invoke their own.
Don’t be confused. Our Governor and lawmakers are much more adept at “playing God” than acting Godly.
I believe God is love. And if you ask most of my colleagues, they’ll say they do too. So why are our legislative agendas and priorities saturated with hatred, intolerance and indifference? I’m not a theologian. But even if I weren’t acutely aware of who God is… it wouldn’t take long in the SC Legislature to figure out who He isn’t.
My fervent prayer for the 2014 legislative session and beyond is that the hypocrisy will end and lawmakers will decide to represent all of the people of South Carolina, in word and in deed. If that happens, you’ll soon begin to see more of His will in our legislative decisions and actions and much less of ours.
I know who my God is. The question is … do they?

Well Said! So many talk the talk but cannot walk the walk.
“So how do we justify denying 300,000 South Carolinians access to healthcare coverage?”
How do you justify taking income from other people to pay for it?
“But there’s nothing Godly about our refusal to assist or help protect that same precious life, once it is manifested outside of the womb.”
$10 says the above quote isn’t really about “protecting” anyone, it’s about taking money from some people and handing it to others.
Since she’s so in tune to God and sees so much need, maybe someone should go over to her house and pick and choose what they will take, including from her bank account, and tell her it’s “ok” because it will go straight to the Oliver Gospel mission. If she refuses, not only is she not Godly but then we’ll go ahead and just take it all.
How do you justify taking income from other people to pay for it?
By not being an anti-social douchebag, that’s how. Every country has a government and every government taxes the people for various amounts of service given to the people. It’s how society in general works, whether you like it or not.
The real discussion is what services to provide and why should/shouldn’t the gov provide them.
Ranting and finger pointing (not you, Mia) does nothing to further discourse. Just divides folks and causes ugly shouting matches.
Conservatives won’t listen to facts, logic, reason or discourse, so we’ve resorted to shouting.
+15
Yes, government takes our money and some of it goes to enrich pols via kickbacks, backdoor corporations they own, and a little of it gets sprinkled down to the poor people so they can just get by and vote for those handing a little bit to them. That all sound very “civilizing” and makes for good society.
Not withstanding how much of the stolen loot goes to fund war on a national basis, which is also very civilizing and society building.
Go on and continue to associate “society” with government you fool. You’ll be whining about how things should be better forever.
You didn’t get the memo that there was no society before income tax, prior to 1913 and again before 1861 for example?
What Smirks said :
“By not being an anti-social douchebag, that’s how.”
What Smirks meant:
“By not being an anti-socialist douchebag, that’s how.
Maybe because having 300 thousand mostly working poor in your state who don’t get flu shots, get sick, miss work and have shorter less productive lives is bad for them and bad four our state’s economy as well. I saw a man in Charleston fall down face first in the pavement at a bus stop two months ago. there is no way a trip to the health clinic for medication would not have been cheaper. The EMS response along cost over $600.
I saw a man in Charleston fall down face first in the pavement at a bus stop two months ago. there is no way a trip to the health clinic for medication would not have been cheaper. The EMS response along cost over $600.
That was likely TBG’s cousin, Schlomo “Ira Hayes” Yellowfeather.
He’s recovering nicely, thank you. Going along with your extortion theme…he suggests that having the liquor store deliver his *meds* would save the cost of EMS, CARTA, as well as the health clinic costs.
Pretty pathetic…..downvoting a down and out Native American suffering from a head injury and DTs…
So your argument is that it’s good for the economy to pay for the health insurance of the poor so they can work harder? Really?
How many of these poor weren’t getting healthcare prior to Obamacare?
Did you learn this economic fact from Obama himself in the same lecture where he told us all that unemployment benefits help our economy? You realize that even the money does grow on trees that the more of it we create to do such things eventually hurts everyone, right?
The “money” is either created or taken from someone else, yet it helps the economy? That’s the argument, right?
GFY loser. We all contribute our taxes to something we may never use.
We’ve bought trillions of dollars in ships, missiles, tanks and weapons that will never see the first battle…
I didn’t see the “no-funding-for-missiles” check box on my taxes.
I see all the Godly types have come out in support of your “Go Fuck Yourself loser” comment.
We just spent a Billion dollars on turboprop cargo transport planes which were made in Italy and flown directly to Arizona to be taped up and put in Mothballs. We also spent a billion dollars on Russian Helicopters for the Afghan army which aren’t likely to be in service very long.
The MIC and no-bid contractors rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan are the right wing jobs programs.
Don’t get me started on the F-35 issues!
I agree. We aren’t denying 300,000 South Carolinians access to healthcare coverage, we just don’t want to pay for it out of our pockets. I pay for my healthcare coverage, they can pay for theirs as well.
Except of course when they can’t. But I guess that is what death was made for for.
They can’t pay for their health insurance but can pay for their Direct TV and latest Playstation 4 games. I’m not so ignorant as to believe that some of the people don’t need assistance, but out of the 300,000 South Carolinians that do not have access to coverage, how many choose not to? 300,000 is a large number. Many don’t have their priorities straight and many choose not to have insurance – and don’t bitch about the cost, there are high deductible plans people can purchase that cover catastrophic events. People should depend on government to protect their individual freedom, not wipe their ass. When I think of someone needing assistance I think of the little 80 year old widowed lady, not the 30 year old man that bitches about what he doesn’t have and is to lazy to go out and get it – instead, he wants other people to work for it and give it to him. If we are going to help those in need, we need to screen those receiving assistance to limit the abuses. Most can fend for themselves, many choose not to and a few can’t.,
Many of the cheap, high-deductible plans that have been affordable for poorer populations in the past simply aren’t worth the money that people spent on them when it came time to collect, when the policy was needed. THAT is what the ACA is in the process of correcting…making those unfair insurance policies conform to standards that WILL give value for dollars spent, if only the right information was being disseminated about the ACA an not the dumb-down, paranoid rhetoric that the GOP would have everyone believe. Familiarize yourself with the facts, please.
Yes, those plans won’t pay for contraceptives.
We are at the top of the ‘unhealthy’ list, too. I suspect that many of those 300,000 have pre-existing conditions that have previously kept them from insurance.
The several thousand who recently had their data stolen on that laptop from the auditor for the high-risk pool might indicate how many (wealthy) people with pre-existing conditions can afford those high risk pool premiums.
Weak troll attempt. But I guess that is par for the course with our mediocre political leaders. As to her final question(“I know who my God is. The question is … do they?”), the answer is no, I do not know your God.*
I think you meant “I know who my God is. Can they say the same?”
*Your God is unrecognizable to me as a Christian, given your weak attempts to warp Jesus into Caesar.
Matched only by the attempts of the GOP to morph Jesus into Ayn Rand.
Of course you cite none. So apparently they don’t match up that well.
Short version: God only speaks to Mia McLeod, so you better listen to her and do exactly as she says.
Everything she said is true…can’t wait to see all the comments to prove it.
@Libby-wait no further. The flood gates are open and the hatred is spewing forward. Mia is correct, these so called conservatives would not recognize Jesus or Chritianity if both slapped them up beside the head. They only see race and blindly follow the Republican party. As long as ACA has Republican roots, they were all for it. Obama and Democrats support it and it is a socialist program. They are crazy as hell in SC. SAD but true.
I’d rather not have religion in government at all. Religion is something people should choose to believe in and apply to themselves and not be able to force on others. Religion in government leads to persecution of those with conflicting beliefs. I’d rather have secular government, one that protects individual rights and refuses to involve itself in or be influenced by any religion.
Besides that, even the Bible says you should help others out of love for your fellow man, not because you’re told to, not because it gets you goodies in some afterlife, and certainly not because it makes you look better than those around you. Don’t make an appeal to someone’s religion, it will just piss them off. Appeal to reason. If that doesn’t work, realize you’re wasting your time and move on.
Separation of church and state does sound familiar.
How about this? Would you prefer to set forth laws and regulations based off of individualistic beliefs who are clearly biased or from a God who is perfect and all loving. Deal to reason? How is it reasonable to rely on people with their own agendas and their only biased opinions. Read the Bible and truly understand what God sets forth as fair, just and rely and then perhaps you will understand unconditional love. I put my money of a God like that over some greedy human or freeloader who wants to leech off of his fellow neighbor.
Other than finger pointing and throwing Christians around a lot, very little substance and lots of vitriol.
Why doesn’t she try to bolster her position with facts?
I doubt she can.
Very few politicians can.
Just keep pushing the emotional buttons.
First in domestic violence. Number of uninsured in the state. Confederate Flag issue. Why we’re again ‘the most idiotic state’…
I see plenty of facts served up with emotion. Most of us have done enough homework to realize what she’s saying, and it resonates strongly.
You must be enjoying your cold weather day off from school. Now turn off Dr. Phil, double-check your homework and go clean your room.
Great debate skills Bubba. Way to address the issue head on.
Conservatives are being pushed aside for more intelligent and compassionate folks. It’s a shame that this state is stuck in 1855 or we’d be well on our way to modern times.
Amen, Mia. To not like the black man is to not like God. As the black man is also God’s creation, to dislike him is to dislike the work of God. And that, my dear, is a sure fire one way ticket to the inferno. See you at TJ Maxx girlfriend.
Uh, OK?… sure, God loves murder (Mandela, Abortion, etc), stealing (Obamacare), the dishonoring of Mothers and Fathers (yeah, Leftist legislation is littered with this), etc, etc. Anyway, this idiotic, racist, communist, witch is just a sad prelude of things to come in the future for this state.
Yep, the term is called “pathological altruism”. There’s a great book on it you can find on Amazon.
It’s the way the world is going, even the Pope for crying out loud. The first round of socialistic failure wasn’t enough, so they are going to go full on retard.
ZZOOMMMM right over your brainless head. You probably couldn’t define the terms you’ve tossed out even if you had a dictionary.
Were you in a frozen animated state for the past decade?
Wonderful !
She was kind of cute ’til she opened her mouth.
“Thou shall not steal.”
“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”.
So it’s ok to steal?
I thought we were quoting Bible verses. But if we are not taxes are not stealing. Even Jesus said so.
Jesus said taxes weren’t stealing? Is that how you interpret “render unto Caesar”?
Indeed, they were discussing taxes at the time he made the statement. If he thought taxing was stealing he would have said so.
In any event no government can operate without taxes, they are the price of civilization; and if taxes are stealing most of us are guilty as most of us receive far more in benefits than we pay in taxes. Further US taxes are voluntary. If you do not want the benefits of the taxes you pay, you can move to a country that charges virtually no taxes and provides virtually no benefits, and give up your US Citizenship.
“If he thought taxing was stealing he would have said so. ”
Really?
“He saw through their duplicity and said to them,” etc.
“They were unable to trap him”
Yea, I don’t think I quite agree with you. Let’s also for a moment ponder this:
“And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. 8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. 9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”
“you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”
Uh huh….I think you are mistaken.
“Further US taxes are voluntary.”
Then why have an IRS?
“If you do not want the benefits of the taxes you pay, you can move to a country that charges virtually no taxes and provides virtually no benefits, and give up your US Citizenship.”
Ok, but not after being taxed on everything you own if your net worth is over $500K and still yet 3 more years thereafter.
But hey, I do like the benefits of my money being used to fund wars & corrupt gov’ts all over the world…along with the support of a class of generational welfare recipients.
Seriously though, who’d have ever thought I’d have to defend “Thou shall not steal”?
You don’t have to defend thou shalt not steal, and you are not.
The bible verse, since we are back to those, your quote is from the old testament. The Children of Israel had asked god for a king to replace the priest rulers he had placed over them. (By the way, the Priest rulers of the time require tithing, and there were criminal penalties for failure to tithe. These funds were used to support the priests, the temple, and the poor.)
God was simply saying I am going to give you what you asked for, but you are not going to like it. You would be better to keep the priests. It had nothing to do with taxes.
” It had nothing to do with taxes.”
Really?
“He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle[c] and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 ”
Sounds like taxes to me….but look at it this way…I’d much rather be giving up just 10%…which in my interpretation the Lord suggests is onerous rather than the 50% I’m forking over now.
We’ll find out just how dedicated to an honest government and reform for the better when you cast your vote for a chief justice of the SC Supreme Court. If you vote for Toal in early February when her corruption and dishonesty has been shown beyond any reasonable doubt, then we will know everything you wrote here is just political puffing and hypocrisy. .
We will be watching you, Mia.
You’re confused, Judith; McLeod and her ilk are in charge of defining righteousness (although the far right regularly battles for that distinction as well). If she votes for Toal, that just means you don’t understand; it will be for the greater good. The greater good that ol’ Mia understands because she is smarter than you, that is. Relax, and be glad she is there for us.
If she votes for Toal, it means she has bought into Toal’s narcissistic blather about how she is the smartest, most intelligent person on the planet and she needs to a coronation and not a “simple election.” Mia is going to do what the caucus tells her to do in exchange for a few pieces of silver, ie, a carrot here or there on one of her pet projects. Lobby Talk is that Pleicones is gaining more support daily. Nobody has the balls to tell Jean to do the right thing. She still thinks she can lie, cheat and steal – bully – her way through.
We all pay for stuff we do not enjoy or use personally but there is a social contract that exists among everyone in this country, where we look out for each other. When we do this, the karma spreads. A rising tide liftrs all, so does a positive, helpful attitude.
I live in a condo complex. The board is raising the monthly regime fee by $15. This $15 will go for salaries, repairs, roof problems, parking lot issues and so forth. While I may not personally benefit from helping pay for a busted roof 3 buildings over, I know I am helping the overall mission of the complex which is to provide, safe, secure housing for me and people like me.
Nothing is free in life. The well-to-do, and I am one of them according to my tax returns, get all kinds of breaks. I do. Real estate is one of the biggest. I run a business and I have costs which reduce my net income. I get investment credits. BTW, I have a great tax accountant. However, I know everyone is not as well off as myself so I have no prob whether my taxes go for road improvements or unemployment benefits. I benefit and am glad. I am not angry at those people who may be “taking” from me. I feel taxes are the price we pay to live in this democracy. Plus I care about those with less due to my deeply Catholic background (I no longer practice that faith, however). I like to hope that the part of my money going towards welfare or roads will make life better for me and everyone else in small and big ways.
I am not jealous that the poor get my tax dollars. I want a good life for everyone.
I want a good life for everyone.
So does TBG.
Of course TBG cannot speak for all conservatives and libertarians…..but his disagreement with you is whether government redistribution is a productive way to move towards that goal…or, as TBG believes, is counterproductive…especially in the long run.
Redistribution? The only way that has worked for 4 decades is in reverse. Do you have trouble reading charts and graphs?
You must get paid to post, a nobody can be this damned ignorant on purpose…
You might want to explain how “redistribution” works “in reverse”.
Idiot.
If you don’t understand it, it’s because you choose not to.
The govt since the 80’s has robbed from the regular people to enrich those at the top. Our system creates wealth for the already wealthy. Trickle down is a lie. But you already know that. The question is why support the GOP/TP morons who suck the govt teat for almost 200K/yr and don’t do anything while in office? Why hire a football coach who doesn’t like football?
Typical conservative BS pusher.
Your argument is so weird, you realize that the gov’t has helped to create this massive disparity in income yet you seem to rail for the same gov’t to somehow equalize things. You should be calling for the downfall of the gov’t in the face of its failure if anything…which would actually align you with the limited gov’t types.
So odd.
Downfall of the govt? I’m not some secessionist kook.
As much as I’d like to see right wing heads on pikes, the way to change things is through the law and democratic process to level the playing field.
Everyone wants a small govt.
Nobody wants a small aircraft carrier.
I’m not some secessionist kook.
Settle down, Hoss.
No one thinks you are a secessionist.
I’m really sorry I wasted your time and mine. The amazing thing is that you get “thumbs up”. How you deduce that I called you a “secessionist kook” is beyond my ability to understand.
OK. TBG will play.
The govt since the 80’s has robbed from the regular people to enrich those at the top. Our system creates wealth for the already wealthy.
This is “reverse redistribution”, correct?
And if the government robs from those “at the top” to enrich “regular people”, it is “forward redistribution”?
How is TBG doing so far?
You must be huffing paint. Please tell me how regular people are being enriched? Please tell me how those at the top are being robbed?
Poor people can’t offshore money, outsource jobs or claim 70K in deductions for a dancing horse. They can’t liquify portfolio assets, defer payments or sell off stock.
It used to take hard work to get ahead. Now to get ahead you just need to be in the lucky sperm club.
You have to understand how the GOP identifies those who “earned their money”. It simply means you have money, regardless of how you got it (other than what they identify as “entitlements”). Consequently if you are a Government contractor selling the government $500 hammers, you earned your money. If you are a congressman sitting on your ass all day and getting paid $200k a year for nothing, you earned your money. If you were born to a person who is wealthy you earned your money; even if you sit in front of a television and play video games all day when you are not in rehab.
On the other hand the day laborer who works for minimum wage and needs food stamps to help feed his family is a leech.
Reread the question and try again, Chief.
TBG suspects you may be BigT/GrandTango’s progressive “Doppler-Ganger”.
Send yer monie t’ whatever cause ye like. I does. I didn’t sign no contract t’ take care of you folks!
The majority of unemployed workers no longer receiving unemployment benefits are not African Americans because we did not have the jobs in the first place, and the majority of persons without health care are not the African American, but the unemployed others who had the jobs we didn’t “qualify for.” I am a retired tax paying African American, four careers, full time seminary student, spousal survivor VA benefits, Medicare recipient, (worked 55 years) 2 Master Degrees who never made even $50,000 a year because I was either “over qualified or under qualified.” We “AIN’T the ones. Have you visited social service lately, if you do, then notice how “white” it is.
Typical Politician.I was originally encouraged but as usual government handouts is the answer from a politician. No blame where it rightly belongs. We can have as many children as we like with 10 different men who do not shoulder any responsibility. We do not teach or encourage folks to be responsible at a young age,we teach them to have a good time and the government will take care of you. We do not spend the time at home correcting them we are out in the street looking for more fun and leave them at home to learn on their own or to perish. When they have a run in with the law or a teacher it is the teacher or police officer who is the culprit. We have hit a standard that we will be bailed out of any mess we create so why should we be responsible. We have our people so use to handouts they feel no responsibility to work or better themselves. Our well being is the responsibility of someone else or government and if we fail it is not our fault. We have lost our competitive edge in everything but sports and live in a dreamworld. Kids have every instrument on entertainment they want but you never see a school book or any encouragement to excel in school. If you are looking for fault look at the parent and the leadership such as yourself lady! Preach to me about drugs, abortion and taking responsibility for all we produce including our children!
Lots of rambling but nothing to contribute as usual. Get out of your trailer and see what is going on in the real world, and not the inbred bumpkin fox news version.
Bet you do not know who your daddy is!
I was reminded that God can’t be pleased when “the majority” claims to be Christians in one breath and deliberately defies His very essence in the next.
TBG’s proofreading service is also available for you.
Wish Mia was our governor. We need a leader with some morals.
AMEN!!!!!
AMEN!!!!!
AMEN!!!!!
Praise Him Mia!
Mia, 7,000,000 people lost their policies due to Obamacare, and not even half that have received healthcare through Obamacare – that means that over 3.5 million fewer people have healthcare due to Obamacare.
And my mother is one of them.
She was told she could keep her plan. She was lied to. She was paying $41/month for a catastrophic plan to supplement Medicare. That plan was dropped. She can only replace it with a plan that requires her to carry maternity care and pediatric dentistry, but catastrophic plans cannot be purchased by people over 30. And the plan cost? $694/month, the estimated subsidy drops it to $350/month.
How is going from $41/month for a plan she liked to $350/month for a plan she doesn’t like affordable? Or maybe that’s you and your boy’s idea of “Christian?”
Sam, I am very familiar with the insurance industry and ACA (I read the whole bill). Your mother’s situation does not stand up to scrutiny. 1/ she received medicare 2/ she was not part of a legitimate medicare “supplement” policy plan. 3/ Your use of the word “catastropic” (and the price) tells me that she was sold what is known as a secondary policy which is NOT the same as a medicare supplement policy. She should have been told this and probably was..but people who are not familiar with insurance terminology often get this mixed up. Sorry for your mother’s problems.
Thank you Dakota. Though the real issue here is that she wasn’t allowed to keep her plan as she was promised. She went from unconcerned and feeling secure to a heart-racing panic overnight. She supported Obama up until she realized she’d been fleeced and likened him to the Bible-selling con men who knocked on her family’s door during the 1930s.
She has misdirected anger. She bought an ins. policy which she should have not purchased. The person who sold her that policy is the snake-oil sales man….not Pres. Obama.
Why do I believe you are the one who misdirected your mother’s anger instead of protecting her by helping her get the right supplemental policy for her Medicare? She was taken advantage of by an insurance salesman, not Obama. That is the problem with Teanuts. they spread misinformation and do serious injury.
Untrue.
MIA for governor !
The Bible wasn’t written to the State!!
This comment does not make any sense, but if you are saying what I think you are trying to say, you did not read the old testament very well.
1- It aint da job ov da gober-mint t’ “take care” of folks (wit other folks’ money), unless they is beingviolently invaded and we aint got enuff guns t’ beat them back ourselves…
.
2- Church and State can no more bee separate than people and the state (those in authoritie are people– deeply flawd in manie cases.
Thus, when ye gots people in th’ gober-mint, they brings their bekliefs and values wit them, that includes religions beliefs and values. Maybe they aint gud examples of Christians, but I onlie heered of one hoo didn’t sin.
