This website told readers (repeatedly) the U.S. Senate campaign of Lee Bright was headed for an implosion … and last week it finally happened. Bright – a State Senator from Spartanburg, S.C. – owes creditors up to $3 million, most of it attributable to the spectacular failure of his trucking business.
He’s also in hot water for withholding details on a prior income disclosure form and engaging in a controversial business partnership with his campaign consultant (which raises a host of ethical questions).
So far Bright’s opponents in the 2014 GOP primary have been quiet about his financial troubles. Bright? He’s addressed them in a sprawling opinion piece which basically blames everything on the federal government.
Are people buying that explanation?
No. Not even a little bit.
The comments in response to Bright’s mea culpa have been nothing short of brutal. But it’s not just blog readers rebuking him, some of his fellow Republican lawmakers are publicly taking him to task.
“So he knows how to run a business like Government,” S.C. Rep. Gary Simrill tweeted last weekend. “I want somebody who can run Government like a business.”
Ouch … but damningly accurate.
Which brings us to Bright’s fundamental problem: He is simply no longer a credible voice on a wide range of fiscal issues which must be addressed in this race – especially given the abysmal fiscal record of the incumbent, liberal “Republican” Lindsey Graham.
He’s also lost major credibility on the free market front by blaming his problems on free trade.
Seriously? How does that work, exactly?
Astoundingly certain Tea Party leaders – including the decreasingly relevant Talbert Black of the Campaign for Liberty – are standing by Bright’s side.

“So far Bright’s opponents in the 2014 GOP primary have been quiet about his financial troubles.” Mace hasn’t been quiet. Her mouthpiece, Sic Willie, has been doing her talking.
Which raise all kinds of ethical issues…
Given the trucking regulations today, his blaming the Feds is probably at least partially true.
Which is why there are no trucks on the road? Bullshit – the regulations apply across the board.
Those regulations add a lot of cost to operating a trucking company. Some businesses are better equipped to handle the increased costs, some are not.
So those who are unable to figure out how to successfully comply with the rules that apply to everyone should be elected to US Senate?
I’m not sure we should only elect people to the Senate who are capable of understanding complicated regulations. If we elected some more “dumb” people, there’s a chance we’d have a lot less government involvement in our lives.
I certainly want to be led by an idiot. Just like I want a stupid lawyer. Do you hear yourself man?
It’s the people that think they’re smarter than you that pass laws limiting your freedom under the theory that they’re “protecting” you from your own stupidity.
Good point, but lost on these anti Government types.Always the governments fault.Poor ol Lee? A “victim” of the big bad government.
You sound way too logical & sane for this blogsite.
Well the other part thats “probably true?”Bright is a dumbass and a poor businessman.
Of course.
Interestingly, On-Time Transportation is a U.S. government contractor company which is somewhat ironic considering the degree of Tea party hostility to government and creeping socialism.

Sic, just come out and endorse Mace. Why even wait. You are attacking Bright more than Graham because he is standing in the way of your girl. Do us all a favor and endorse her and then post pics we all know you have.
“So far Bright’s opponents in the 2014 GOP primary have been quiet about his financial troubles.”
None of them need to waste money in that direction (he will destroy himself), in fact anyone that bothers to attack him now would be like a fighter plane trying to strafe an enemy pilot that is parachuting to the ground. ALL contenders need to stay focused against Graham, the voters will vet the contenders at the primary, or sooner, then ALL can get behind the one the voters choose to go against Graham.
You are right….Graham is the target here. Someone will emerge, but I don’t think it will be Lee Bright. Not only all of this stuff lately, but he just seems to have peaked too early. Hard to maintain that momentum…also leaves you susceptible to just about everything coming out.
I do not believe Mr. Bright will make it to the primary and if he does he will have a poor showing which might hurt future political endeavors. Whatever his good qualities this office/election isn’t for him.
Seriously… how much is Nancy paying you at this point? Why not talk about all of them equally? Looks like she’s saving money with you as her press coordinator.
That would depend largely on the size of FITS base readership. Not likely.
Job Announcement:
If your town or community doesn’t currently have a Village Idiot, please give me a call – I am available
sincerely
Lee Bright (864) 576-6742
Look here: There is a village so small that the citizens have to take turns being the town drunk…..
I called that number. It cost my $1 a minute and the phone sex wasn’t even that good. Something about, “I’m gonna screw the stupid right out of you at a $1 a minute until you hang up.”
That was the right number.
Last time I checked, Lee has gained multiple endorsements… Graham has money, but what does Nancy have? http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa0NgSepZfdJZnZNVlU559Q?feature=watch
Time
A nice pair of boobies?
Wait, strike that, Lee has a nice pair of boobies too.
LOL!!
And just how do YOU know that?!?
NotsoBright needs to switch parties, this would be seen as a strong endorsement for his abilities.
Will doesn’t have to write about this guy. He appears to be imploding all on his own volition. Anyone who thinks he has an ounce of a chance needs to have their head examined.
“So he knows how to run a business like Government,” S.C. Rep. Gary Simrill tweeted last weekend. “I want somebody who can run Government like a business.”
All I need to know.
Surely there’s someone more stupid that we could tap for this position.
There’;s probably someone under a bridge somewhere that would clean up just fine!
Kind of like the Democratic Senatorial candidate Alvin Greene?
Didn’t I specify “not on crack?”
Lee should don a Kamikaze bandanna and go crazy on Ms. Lindsey. He’s got nothing to lose, literally…NOTHING.
He could at least make us insaniacs proud by burning out rather than fading away.
Rust never sleeps.
I never thought anyone could make Alvin Greene look good. Oh well….

If government were “run like a business,” as numerous dumb-asses keep saying it should be, the CEO would be getting paid millions of dollars a year.
Run LIKE a business, not EXACTLY LIKE a business, or AS a business. In other words, it should not be run for profit, nor should the CEO be paid as if he were running a for-profit business, because he would not be. The arguments for running government LIKE a business would be sticking to budgets, careful cost analysis, employee accountability, etc. But nobody wants there to be a profit motivation, so there would not be a CEO paid millions based on profits, stock options, etc..
Actually, I believe the “CEO” would’ve been run out of town on a rail for throwing away the “stockholders’ money” (our taxes or money borrowed in our name) on “Green Energy”-Crony-boondoggles, like Solyndra. The man is mostly an empty suit, whose rise in the U.S. makes no sense at all, since he’s mostly known by a lying autobiography including his admission of “composite” girlfriends, inaction as an Illinois Congressman (voting “present” a lot, so he’d have no voting record to challenge), & dirty dealing by smearing his political competition on the way up, to gain his offices. He’s despicable.
Much rather someone that at least ran a business and in case anyone missed it, times are hard, things are tough. Businesses are failing faster than we can count. Our government in SC can’t run within budget and doesn’t know how to manage money. Not just Bright. At least he tried, failure yes, but he tried.
Too bad Big Spending RINO Gary Simrill doesn’t vote like he’s running a business. At least Lee’s voting record speaks for itself… come on Fits, this is just a bs piece and you know it. Why don’t you post Gary Simrill’s liberal spending voting record instead, then maybe the folks in his district will get off their butts and do something about it.
I like getting PWND from behind. I enjoy a good lesson in humility. Usually, I’m a giver, not a taker, but every once in a while I can be versatile in my endeavors.
Some more information on Lee Bright. Where do they find these people?
