Numerous sources are confirming that the University of South Carolina football team will face off against Wisconsin in the 2014 Capital One Bowl – the SEC’s top non-BCS draw.

The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Do the eighth-ranked Gamecocks (10-2, 6-2 SEC) deserve a better bowl destination? Probably. But No. 15 Wisconsin (9-3, 6-2 Big Ten) represents a formidable opponent – with a pair of 1,300-yard rushers in their backfield and the nation’s sixth-ranked scoring defense.

The Badgers (11-13 in bowl games) are looking for their first bowl win since 2009 – having lost three straight Rose Bowls to Texas Christian, Oregon and Stanford. The Gamecocks are looking for their third straight bowl victory – something that’s happened just once in the history of the program.

South Carolina has had success against Big Ten opponents in recent years. The Gamecocks won the 2012 Capital One Bowl 30-13 over then-No. 20 Nebraska en route to the school’s first-ever Top Ten finish. Last season the Gamecocks defeated then-No. 18 Michigan in the 2013 Outback Bowl to win 11 games for the second straight year.

Kickoff from Orlando, Florida’s Citrus Bowl is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST on January 1, 2014.

Wisconsin has a great team…and a great Governor in Scott Walker. South Carolina has a great team…and a great Governor in Nikki Haley. Should be fun game!

As for Clemson, they can beat Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes! Good times ahead

You’re a far better judge of football teams than governors.

South Carolina has a great governor? Huh?!? What, did Haley pass away recently was replaced with a pig? Now that truly would be great!

One sure way of Christie losing the primary would be for him to choose Haley as his VP.

This should be a good game, maybe even the most interesting of the SEC match ups.
