Dabo Swinney Not Worried About “Nanny Nanny Boo Boo”

Clemson University’s Dabo Swinney sure has a way with words …

The Tigers’ head football coach – who has done plenty of trash talk in previous years – is eschewing that approach this season as his team looks to win its first game in five years over arch-rival South Carolina.

“We’ll win the game and we’ll win with class,” Swinney told reporters this week.

“We want to win because it’s best for our program, best for our fan base,” Swinney added. “It’s about finishing 11-1. Not worried about nanny-nanny boo boo.”

Nanny-nanny boo boo?

Awwww, Dabo …

No. 10 South Carolina (9-2, 6-2 SEC) has been installed by odds makers as a 5.5-point favorite at home over No. 6 Clemson (10-1, 7-1 ACC), the first ever Top Ten showdown between the in-state rivals.

Now, if he’ll just keep his damn mouth shut. I’m a tiger, but dadgum I wish he would fight the urge to talk incessantly every time somebody sticks a damn microphone in his face.

And if we win (yeah, yeah, I know it’s been a long time and we are the underdogs per vegas, and the ACC is like junior high ball, etc. etc. – so don’t waste your breath and keystrokes) I hope he simply says “Glad we won. Good game.” And if we lose, I hope he simply says “they kicked our tails – congrats.”

But, he is who he is, and I seriously doubt he can resist the urge. Just like d-bag Spurrier can’t resist throwing a barb or two our way.

Word.

When Penn State beat Michigan in 4 overtimes earlier this year, the on-field TV interview with coach Bill O’Brien was great. All the PSU fans were going crazy, running around, emotions running high, etc., and amid all of that going on around him, all O’Brien said was, “Boy, Michigan has a really good team, they’re very well coached, we’re very fortunate to get this win over a team as good as Michigan, etc.”

It would have been understandable if he had been celebratory, praising his own players and their fortitude, etc., given the dramatic fashion in which they won the game (and all the turmoil the players have endured from the NCAA’s ridiculous grandstanding in the Sandusky debacle), but he remained composed, professional and humble. They’re lucky to have a guy like that as their coach.

“We’ll win the game”
Sounds like Dabo is writing another check and hoping it isn’t returned for insufficient funds, like it was last year. Pretty ballsy of him, but I guess he’s getting used to eating his words.

As a coach I guess he probably shouldn’t go telling his players “yeah, they are a lot better than us and we’ll probably lose.”

Not a Dabo fan (and certainly not a fan of all his rah rah BS)but c’mon man…what is he supposed to say?

It’s one thing to make those comments in the locker room, but he said them to the press.
In any event, looks like the comment by Fits may have been taken out of context.

I don’t often understand the vitriol between CU rednecks and USC rednecks (even though I am a USC redneck alum), but Dumbo sure is easy to dislike…

What Dabo also said that Fits won’t publish, because, well, its not sensational enough:

““We’ve gotten beaten four years in a row and nobody wants it to go to five,” Swinney said Tuesday during his weekly press conference. “It’s huge. It’s huge for everybody. Everybody wants to win. Bad. But wanting it isn’t going to get it done. But we have to be smart. Physical. We have to execute. We have to play our best game and that’s where our focus is.”

“All I can do is give credit to South Carolina. They’ve been the better team. They’ve coached better. They’ve been a very good football team that has beaten a lot of people. They’ve been better than us. That’s my job and responsibility. Wish I could go and change it. It’s not from a lack effort. That’s for dang sure.”

I am shocked, shocked I say, that Sic Willie would not publish the whole story.

Not only that, but I believe sic misquoted Dabo about “we will win”.

You idiots! Win or lose CU is still the class school of SC. Learn to accept it because it will not change. SC Jr. Is the flagship in name only!

Deal with it!!!

How boring you must be in person. My friends, Clemson or Carolina, are capable, successful guys and gals who could give a rat’s ass where anybody went to school. Many went to W and L, Furman, Wofford, etc and I assure you nobody is jousting for “bragging rights” about their colleges. Clemson is an OK school, so is Carolina. Yawn. Hopefully the second generation of your family will also be able to attend college. Get a life.

Yea, you’re right I’m bored keeping your ass safe every day. You idiot my Dad was a WW II Navy vet, went to college and became a very successful business owner and my brother and I are both college graduates and nationally respected in our fields. My son is in college now! Yawn….I have a life. Go back to your status quo, it fits you well.

Stand down, mister. I never meant to question the more esoteric areas of your life. Forgive the poking. If Clemson makes you happy then gosh darn it, good for you.

Never could figure out the college bragging rights. My father in law, A WWII veteran, never finished high school because of family economic issues during the Depression. He became an accomplished pilot and excelled in his career by taking advantage of numerous training opportunities. I have met many people like him in my lifetime. Sad fact is that most of the retail clerks you see in the department stores, making a few dollars over minimum wage, most have college degrees. They will be in debt 20+ years paying off their loans.

VoiceofTruth November 27, 2013 at 1:01 pm

I seriously doubt someone like you that whines on here EVERYDAY about how much better you are is keeping anyone safe. More than likely you were the last kid picked in gym class, never had a date and probably still don’t have kids because your fat ass still cant get a woman, and you desperately want to feel better about yourself so you try to put down others you feel better than. Here is a hint fatass, you aren’t better than anyone. Lets see you keep people safe everyday huh? What could you be. If you were in the service I guess friendly fire would have taken you out long ago so we can rule that out, then if you were a cop, you would have failed the physical we can rule that out too, your too much a crybaby to be a fire fighter, so perhaps you are a mall cop? Are you Paul Blart? Hey everyone VoiceofReason is Paul Blart the Mall Cop. Thanks Paul for being all you can be but still not being shit.

At the end of the game, I’ll be waiting in the North End Zone near Butler’s landing spot where he made “The Catch.” Fuller and Butler will be my cashiers. Willie Anderson and the “Fridge” are in charge of security. Ol’e Willie gonna point the gap he’s gonna shoot one more time.

The Willie Brice rent is past due. Just make the check out to IPTAY 2013. We’ll forego the late charges.

The way I heard tell, Nanny Boo Boo was the grandmother of Yogi’s diminutive friend. She would sell pickanick baskets and marital aids in the high woods.
