Thanks, Obamacare!
You can add 150,000 South Carolinians to the millions of Americans losing their insurance policies due to U.S. President Barack Obama’s socialized medicine plan.
That figure comes courtesy of the S.C. Department of Insurance (SCDOI), which has given providers until December 2 to decide whether they are taking Obama up on his “Obamacare fix,” which permits them to revert back to policies that the new law previously wrote out of existence.
Wait … Obama can do that? Just change the law on the fly?
Apparently so … in fact in one especially egregious instance his Internal Revenue Service is arbitrarily rewriting the law to the tune of $700 billion in new taxes.
Hope and change, people … hope and change.

Yep. I was one of those folks who had his Carolina Care plan cancelled. The last few years they were raising rates 40-50% a year. Of course, they never said anything about Obamacare being the reason. I was always told it was based on their “loss experience” in S.C.
BUT, this cancellation was the best thing to happen to me in years. Went through the Healthcare Exchange and got a new premium plan for about half of what I was paying Carolina Care Plan. That’s right, Obamacare is going to save me over $10,000 next year!
10K BS
This from the biggest Bullshiter on this site.
Hey didnt you claim you voted for Obama.
I don’t know about Happy Voter, but it looks like I will be able to reduce my deductible enough to save about $6,000 in health care costs next year over what I paid this year. I’m going from a 10k deductible for me and a 10k deductible for my wife to a 3k deductible for each; for approximately the same price.
Got me a bronze plan w/Coventry, $62.01/mo.
why don’t you share your deductible and co-pay with us.
Instead of posting here you and Happy Voter should contact the White House and be one of the success storys they are so desperately looking for. But remember they may vet you first they’ve already been burned once.
Barry, is dat you?
Hallelujah!
The Lord has come and said, “Let your neighbor subsidize your insurance.” and wrote it in tablets that Obama has carried down from the mount.
The debt doesn’t matter.
You are an idiot. Everyone with insurance subsidizes those without insurance and everyone with a huge deductible or crappy insurance and no ability to make up the difference. That is what the ACA was trying to fix. Your are probably one of those people I was subsidizing.
Lawdy, Lawdy!
Your righteous indignation has burned a fire in your shorts! Or maybe you just shit yourself after eating KimChi.
Your genius statement about ole government trying to right da wrong of hospitals charging those covered more to support the deadbeats misses one crucial item smarty pants.
Government overhead! Yes siree Mr. Genius! You somehow missed the Trillion dollars our country will spend to “fix” (not going so well either) this problem. You are such an idiot, you somehow missed the layers of bureaucracy and a trillion dollars to get the whole dog and pony failure show off the ground.
In your magical world powered by unicorn farts and decorated by sprinkly elf urine you somehow forget that it all takes our money anyway, except now you add 30% or more in government overhead costs instead of just the deadbeat costs the hospital was “gouging” the insurance companies for.
Sheesh, you are truly a moron’s moron.
Typical fact challenged Tea-nut. Just make up the numbers. Learned that from the Fake News Network and Mitt Romney. You always win the argument if you make up the facts.
Right. And no one made up more facts to sell this garbage than Obummer himself, right Bill? Why did he lie Bill? Why did his party lie Bill?
Your refusal to accept reality is the problem, not anyone you label “Tea-nut” to justify your warped world view.
You were paying over $20,000 a year for health ins?
The 150k figure is wild-assed guess. Remember the guesser is the same one who in Sept. predicted premiums would go up 70% in SC.
Yeh and Pytel has 100% confidence in him.
Why?
Hes a REPUBLICAN like Pytel!

A nice video of an early Obamacare supporter, Strom.
But Obama said said we would save $2,500.
How many of those policies were junk policies? How many of those people are capable of getting covered in the exchange for roughly the same price? How many are able to get better coverage?
How many people would have been better served by a state exchange here in SC? How many people would have benefited from the Medicaid expansion we refused? You know, the one that is 100% paid for by the feds at first and then 90% paid for forever? How much of that number of yours is a direct result of South Carolina’s refusal of two key provisions of Obamacare, which tons of Republican voices suggested not because it would help SC, but score political points for their party?
How many people benefit from no longer being shut out of the system due to preexisting conditions? How many people (especially children with birth defects or life-long problems) will benefit from barring lifetime maximums?
When did the GOP ever care about the millions of uninsured people when we were discussing health care reform, or after it passed? When did they ever submit legislation that would replace the ACA with something that performed the equivalent function or better instead of just a full repeal and back to square one approach? When did they ever put politics aside and say “You know, let’s at least fix this or that issue” for once? Oh, right, we have to change Senate rules just to keep Republicans from blocking pretty much every appointment just for shits and giggles.
The GOP: We want you to think we care, but really, we don’t.
You sure raise a lot questions but the only thing we know, they couldn’t keep their plan, period.
Right. After The Onion president said nearly 50 times that they WOULD get to keep it. I have a question for Smirks – why did the president LIE?
The Dems: We know better than you how to run your life and we know you didn’t like that “junk” policy anyway.
If you actually read the AP story and weren’t intent on lying about it. If you had never worked for Mark Sanford, you might not enjoy dissembling about numbers so much. From the AP:
COLUMBIA — The state Insurance Department says a dozen insurers will no longer write health policies in South Carolina, impacting more than 30,000 people.
Agency spokeswoman Ann Roberson says insurers cited the federal health care overhaul in abandoning the state’s individual or small group market. State law requires companies to notify the agency only if they’re discontinuing policies in an entire market segment.
Director Ray Farmer says those notices helped him ESTIMATE (i.e., guess) that more than 150,000 South Carolinians overall are being forced from their policies.
Last week, his agency issued guidelines for insurers wanting to extend coverage to clients who previously received termination notices, following President Obama’s partial reversal.
Farmer has said departing companies don’t have that option. But Roberson said Monday they’re invited to return to the market and extend coverage.
Nice recap of Will’s article Nitrat – oh, that’s The State’s story. what did Will get wrong?
“Director Ray Farmer says those notices helped him estimate that more than 150,000 South Carolinians overall are being forced from their policies.
We use estimates all the time – estimates are not guesses, if they were guesses, The
RagState would have used the word guess.Sorry, it’s an AP story – I would have thought you would pay attention to distinctions like that, Colonel – and I cut and pasted from the Post and Courier.
Actually, I would think that a state agency that regulates insurance companies doing business in the state would have some pretty hard and fast numbers and not have to guess. But, that is a political appointee job these days…ahhh, the cabinet system at work; cronyism over meritocracy rules the day.
Regardless of the rag that printed it, words have meanings. Estimates – the word the story uses – generally have some basis of fact. Guesses do not, that’s why they’re guesses.
Every member of the Obama administration is a political appointee – what’s your point?
As far as Obamacare is concerned, the best is yet to come…LoL
If you like your Chippie the RFID, you can keep your Chippie the RFID
Bless your heart.
Obama lied, period.
Through my employer, my monthly rate for single went down. My deductible stayed the same and my out of pocket rose $1000. Now I did lose my prescription and office visit copay, but after deductible I’ll pay 20% of network price. And I have a saving account the company puts $250 in and I can donate to, and that money can be used on any expense. Our plan is with Cigna. My girlfriend’s health plan did not change one dime. Her company has 6000 employees, insured by Aetna.
Of course Cigna and Aetna haven’t changed yet. They were given a delay on the mandate. That is the employer mandate that was postponed. However, millions of people with group policies are going to be dumped AFTER the 2014 elections. It is in the Federal Register. Obama and Sebelius knew this back in 2010. So you and others on group policies are only “safe” for a while. Someone has to pay for this dog of a bill that no one read.
correction, not Federal Register…part of a brief of a lawsuit. Priests for Life vs. HHS.
Cigna and Aetna are the health plans, not the employer. The employer mandate was delayed. But our two employers have always offered health coverage. I know other people who have had some sticker shock. I’m lucky. Please don’t list false items about the law. I’m not 100% behind the law, but I at least know the true parts from blog lies.
So you didn’t save $2,500 like the President said?
Just like Haley, he cannot tell the truth.
Just like Haley he campaigned on a trasnparent administration and it is the worse muddled mess in the history of the State (Haley) and Country (Obama).
Just like Haley, if lips are moving they are both lying.
Just like Haley he promoted and appoints sychophants and incompetence.
Just alike, they are both failures…total failures!
Please don’t make the same mistake as the Country and re-elect Haley to a second term!
It will be a total disaster, just like Obama!
Obama PROMISED we could keep our insurance plans AND our DOCTORS….Democrats just care about the Wall Street Fat Cats and their rich Hollywood pals….to heck
with the Middle Class…
Romneycare……GOOD…….Obamacare …..BAD…..Why is that?” Call on me,call on me,call on me”……Romney is a white Republican……Very good bogart.
What about the tens of thousands of people who will not get Medicaid due to Haley who does not want to expand Medicaid? Haley cares only about some South Carolinian s but not all of them as she was elected to do. Some may lose their insurance, others never get a damn chance to get it. It all sucks. But the Affordable Care Act does great stuff. It takes care of the per-exisiting conditions like cancer. Think of the women you know who had breast cancer. There are no lifetime limits. and young people get to stay on their parent’s policies.
I have signed up and found a substantial savings in my insurance.
And today…right on cue…the clowns posing as the leaders of this country have decided to delay the employer mandate until…drum roll…AFTER the 2014 elections!!! Shocker, huh?
How they can just arbitrarily do this your guess is as good as mine but this lawless bunch hasn’t let the rule of law get in the way of anything they’ve wanted to impose on this country for the last 5 years. So why stop now, right?
I know, I know…I’m stunned just like you are because these Democrats so care about health care in this country. So much so they had to lie repeatedly over and over and over and over again about how wonderful ObummerCare supposedly is. About how your premiums would come down $2,500. About how deficits would come down. About how you would keep your doctor. About how if you liked your current plan, why of course, you’d get to keep it!!
The Dems: We really care about your healthcare…but not as much as we care about the next election!
