Transparency…in a bad way!

At the Investment Commission meeting today, staffer and former career politician Greg Ryberg went on a 20 minute rant against both YOU and me. He levied multiple allegations against me that were false, distorted and politically motivated. Since the Chairman won’t allow me speak and defend myself I just have to laugh it off and get back to work.

Ryberg’s attacks were really about you! He wants your only representative and only elected member accountable to the people, kicked off the $26 billion pension fund. Ryberg is a retired millionaire who makes a $161,000 salary paid from the retirees money and resides in luxury in Aiken and Sullivan’s Island. He does not have regular office hours and does not show up to Columbia and work daily! It’s a heck of a job if you can get it, but as we know 80 percent of all public servants make less than $50,000 per year….and they have to actually show up to work!

Let’s resolve to learn one thing from this; unelected bureaucrats have control over the $26 billion retirement trust and they are not going to let anyone, especially you, have a say in how it is managed. In their arrogance they continually refuse to provide me basic information in a transparent attempt to prevent me from  doing my job and all the while they disseminate false and misleading information to the people of South Carolina.

Let’s also resolve to know this; the harder they work to deprive you of your only elected member on the Commission, the harder I will fight them because I answer to you. I am a faithful man and I believe this will end well for the hardworking people of South Carolina…but we have to work together to protect your money.

Be Well,

loftis sig

Seriously, this guy has way too many press releases that just basically say the same thing.

Let me guess, the tea party dope voters love him?

I am glad he is fighting those guys. Greedy bastards on the investment commission are bleeding us dry.

What happened to reform candidates and elected officials. As far as I cam see Loftis is the only reform guy left and he is certainly not helped by the Republican Party or the media. They are both with the status quo.

I’m far from being a Tea Partier and I think Loftis is doing a good job. It’s one of those rare instances where SC elects someone who actually comes to work expecting to work for the people and not for themselves or their cronies.

Tea party dopes, I like that phrase.
Way too many of those type of politicians in South Carolina. Sadly they are only hurting our state and our country.

Keep fighting the bustards. They have been robbing us for years. $420 million in one year for fees. How can South Carolina pay the highest fees in the country?

Chairman Reynolds Williams walked off with 150 grand pod retiree money for a little law work. Hmmm, now I am getting how the fees are so high.

I watched some of the Investment commission meeting on ETV. I was appalled at former Senator Ryberg’s tirade against Treasurer Loftis. It was one long political speech and it was amazing in its lack of substance and its nasty tone.

What was even more astonishing was the chairman refused to let him speak after such a long attack. Instead, he let some old bald guy commissioner praise Ryberg.

It was appalling

I thought the same thing though I only lasted though about 15 minutes of the Ryberg Trashing of Loftis.

The room looked liked they all needed to shit. The commissioners looked like they we’re to afraid to say anything.

It was a real turnoff. I don’t trust them.

Lotiis is the honey badger. The more they chase him the more he gonna hit back. I say honey badger ought slap them between the eyes and laugh at them.

Honey badger…love the term. In my opinion Treasurer Loftis is not hard enough on these guys. The huge fees paid are a creation of Wall Street and the Consultant industry. They scratch each other’s back and fees and expenses grow and taxpayer and government monthly payments into the system grow and grow and grow.
And the unfounded liability (debt to the taxpayers) grow and grow and grow. The only ones getting rich are the consultants and the Wall Street money managers!

I watched that meeting and i am so pissed. I was in government 30 years and i never saw a man attacked by a staff member then not allowed to speak. Ryberg and Reynolds are cowards for that type of crap. There ought to be hell to pay for this display of strong armed suppression of a members right to speak and defend themselves.

“unelected bureaucrats”…you mean like the ones who actually run the Office of the Treasurer no matter who the elected head is?
You can’t say you’re looking out for hard working state employees when you turn around and demonize them with a Koch/GOP/Frank Luntz talking point.

Larry November 22, 2013 at 11:31 am

Nitrat sounds like an unelected bureaucrat to me…
I am just saying.

unelected bureaucrats run the world. press holds them to a different standards. They operate in the shadows. They control massive amounts of money so they have their friends and family employed by other insiders.
Most of all, politicians know better than to bother them as the unelected bureaucrats always win. They are unaccountable.

You need to stop making up stuff Curtis. What you keep saying over and over again about the investment commission is full of half truths and misrepresentations. I am sure you think what you are doing is good politics because it gets you a lot of attention but it is bad public policy and a is disservice to the pension plan participants. If you want to run for reelection as Treasurer my suggestion for your campaign slogan would be “All Mouth and No Facts”.

And another insider from the investment commission speaks. I think fits should go to the Facebook posting. That way we know when those sucking at the tit of the retirement fund is talking out their ass.

If everyone making a fortune off the retirement fund was identified no one would be speaking on their behalf.

I am no insider. And, not a fan of Greg Ryberg. I just recognize BS when I see it. In the beginning I thought Curtis might do some good, shaking things up. Now I realize he is either crazy or dumb…maybe both.

Then u should pay more attention. He has been working from the inside to change government by altering internal requirements and practices concerning money. I work in central government and can tell you his work will affect How the state manages and handles money.

The art of real change is that you never see it coming, RSIC is the biggest challenge because as he says, Reynolds is the least honest man he has ever met. I don’t know what will happen. The RSIC may be his Waterloo. Maybe not.

U can’t argue with a hater. That is what they do. They hate. Always justified in their minds. But haters none the less.
