In fact, we’re trying not to use the sort of words that accurately describe this state.
Anyway … the latest evidence of the Palmetto State’s backwardness? The Richland County (S.C.) election commission – which helped perpetrate a $1.2 billion heist in a rigged election a year ago – is now not counting votes that were actually cast.
No, that’s not a typo …
According to television station WLTX TV 19 (Columbia, S.C. – CBS), the commission failed to count more than 1,100 absentee ballots in the 2013 election.
WTF?
Both political parties (who work lie hard for those votes) were indignant …
“Like many Richland County residents, I was shocked and frustrated to hear about the results of the South Carolina Election Commission audit,” S.C. Democratic Party chairman Jamie Harrison said. “It is inexcusable and unacceptable. The voters of every county in South Carolina must be able to have full confidence in the electoral process and uphold the promise that every single vote counts.”
SCGOP chairman Matt Moore was also livid.
“These problems happening once is shocking – but the fact that it’s happened again is absurd,” Moore said. “What will it take for Richland County leaders to wake up? Eleven hundred voices were silenced on November 5.”
Yup … which is the sort of thing that only happens in banana republics. Or South Carolina. But we repeat ourselves.
Richland County elections used to run without a hitch. But that was before Republican and Democratic lawmakers representing the county seized control of the local vote counting apparatus as part of their plan to pass the $1.2 billion tax hike.
Leading that charge? S.C. Senators John Courson (RINO-Richland), Joel Lourie (D-Richland), Darrell Jackson (R-Richland) and John Scott (D-Richland) – with help from State Representatives James Smith (D-Richland) and Todd Rutherford (D-Richland).

Not wishing to brag, you understand, but Greenville County’s Commissioner is one of the most honest people ever. I know, because I’ve been reporting on him since 1983.
Much about the way Greenville is being run should be adopted by Columbia city administrators.

Maybe I’m missing something, but it’s fucked that all the ballots weren’t counted…will not counting absentee ballots really going to make a difference? Really, just asking.

Just because Richland County is a hotbed of political corruption desn’t mean the rest of SC is.
Richland follows the lead of Columbia, the epicenter for corruption, scandal, and intrigue. There must be a LOT of rugs around town because a LOT of dirt is being swept under them.
Will the ballots change any of the elections though?

I’m sure by now you have all seen the front page of The State newspaper. Lillian McBride obviously learned nothing from the abomination that she orchestrated in 2012. This woman is derelict even in a downgraded position and a danger to future electoral processes in Richland County. She has proven time and time again that she is a liability to democracy and an absolute hack, no matter where she is shifted within the Richland County Election Office.
As a taxpayer of Richland county, someone who contributes to this woman’s livelihood, I demand that she is either fired or forced to resign. This sort of blatant abuse of her position simply cannot go on if we truly want to make Columbia a better place. She’s cheated the last two elections, what’s to say she won’t cheat the strong mayor vote?
How do the community leaders plan on dealing with her in light of this impending scandal?

McBride strikes again I do believe she is the ugly ass poster face of the Peter Principal. Maybe the new director will get her new office furniture for doing a good job if you can’t screw them at the poling place screw them right in the office. WTF they are only the dumb ass tax payers they don’t need to vote.
