A beleaguered U.S. President Barack Obama bowed to intense public pressure over the failure of his government-run health care law – offering to let insurers extend existing coverage for another year without penalty.
Great … so we get to do this again next year?
Millions of Americans have seen their health care plans cancelled as a result of new regulations associated with Obamacare – in direct contravention of Obama’s oft-repeated promise that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep it.”
In fact Obama made that promise knowing full well millions of Americans would lose their coverage …
What does he have to say for himself?
“I completely get how upsetting this could be for a lot of Americans, particularly after assurances they heard from me,” Obama told reporters this week. “To those Americans, I hear you loud and clear.”
Really …
In a nod to his plummeting poll numbers, Obama acknowledged that he had work to do to regain the public trust.
“I think it’s legitimate for them to expect me to have to win back some credibility on this healthcare law in particular and on a whole range of these issues in general,” he said.
Ya think?
“Republicans” pounced.
“It’s clear the American people simply can’t trust this White House,” U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said. “The only way to fully protect the American people is to scrap this law once and for all. There is no way to fix this.”
For once we agree with Boehner.
Politics aside, Obama’s latest “modification” of his socialized medicine law is hugely controversial. For starters – as with previous Obamacare delays and revisions – it’s not entirely clear from whence Obama derives the authority to make changes like this to the law.
Don’t get us wrong: We believe every single onerous line of this abomination should be permanently blotted from existence … but last time we checked doing so required an act of Congress.
Also, just because Obama waved his magic teleprompter and announced a “fix,” that doesn’t necessarily mean it will work … or won’t backfire.
“Changing the rules after health plans have already met the requirements of the law could destabilize the market and result in higher premiums for consumers,” Karen Ignani, president and chief executive officer of America’s Health Insurance Plans, said in a statement. “Premiums have already been set for next year based on an assumption of when consumers will be transitioning to the new marketplace.”

And the Government was shut down because???
So….Barry says today, “It’s important that we’re honest and straight forward…” REALLY??? You just can’t this shit up people. This charlatan hasn’t been honest or straight forward about a GD thing for essentially his entire silver spooned life and he’s talking about honesty. He and his party and his adminstration pulled off the single greatest act of deliberate fraud ever perpetrated on the American people and he’s talking about honesty. This presidency is straight from the pages of The Onion. Unfortunately, the joke has been on us.
Dumb Monkey!
I give your message a +10 for simplicity and effectiveness.
It’s a message even the common man can understand.
Buck Farack
Huck his Forse
Jim, Jim—you’re starting to talk like Barry.
And spell like Big T…
This may be a fine example of “be careful what you ask for”.
If this one-year extension of existing policies is enacted and signed into law, it means that the insurance companies get to enjoy another year of selling crap policies to people who think they are invincible, policies that can expose individuals to greater than the $6,350 out-of-pocket cap of PPACA, policies that companies can cancel if you get sick too much, policies that fail to cover prescription drugs, etc.
The silver lining is that this is a big, contrived controversy over a small segment of Americans — individuals in the private insurance marketplace, rather than those insured in group plans through their employment — that represents only about 5% of those currently insured.
But, hey! Enjoy your pyrrhic ideological victory over that socialist in the White House!
One more year of being able to keep insurance policies like this:
One example: the “Go Blue Health Services Card” for which cancer survivor Donnamarie Palin of New Port Richey has paid $79 a month. For that, she gets $50 toward each primary care doctor visit, $15 toward each drug — but zero coverage for big-ticket items like hospital stays.

I’m sure glad Republicans are fighting for the little people to keep their scammy junk insurance that lures them into a false sense of security! Wow, they’re fighting for a few million people to keep lower quality insurance coverage while fighting against millions upon millions who are trying to get any coverage at all! How heroic!
Awesome….so glad to see the American people’s arbiters of what good insurance is and what it isn’t (Tom, Smirks) have weighed in with their opinions, or usual pile of bullshit, whichever you prefer. They are one in the same.
“A big, contrived controversy.” That’s so swell of you Tom. Tell you what – why don’t you pick up the phone tonight and call up the millions of people who have had their policies cancelled, or had their premiums skyrocket, and tell them that their situations are a “contrived controversy.” But neither you nor Smirks give a shit about them. And wait a minute – I thought this law was supposed to make sure ALL Americans had insurance…??? Not take the insured and make them uninsured?
So you’re saying that Obamacare’s failure represents a “pyrrhic ideological victory”?
Being that you claim its ideological in nature, I’m curious, what is the cost?
Do you not acknowledge the collect ACTUAL cost of the Obamacare’s failure?
Several analysts are wondering how they’re going to “undo” all these cancellations. It doesn’t sound like its as simple as changing a code from “cancelled” to “current”. It sounds like many will have to go through readmission as if they are new clients… which could be interesting with pre-existing conditions and premiums.
Is this legal? I forgot, dictators rule by decree, not by a silly old Constitution!
Don Rickles, wherever you are tonight, please call Little Barry – and tell him he is a “hockey puck” just one time – for us…….
Can any of you morons at least come up with some new lines?? Same old Obama-Hating crap on here day after day from the same old bunch of LOSERS!
Will give you a pass on moron and loser but the “old” comment is just downright rude
It is likely that this article may contain some facts, but then it is possible
that it may not.
And the hits just keep on coming. Wait until the story tomorrow is Commander in Chief Dummy vs Google. Google is sending out an email to everyone with Gmail asking them to sign a petition to the prez to strengthen the Online Privacy Act. They want to require search warrants for contents of email accounts.
It does cause me to wonder if the Cyclops follow us on Fitsnews. They would probably end up sucking their thumbs and wearing diapers. I can imagine them attempting to condense an analysis of any one of us into, say, about a five page report. HAH! (But – then again – they might see how much fun we have here, and sign in…) HAH!..HAH!
We are about to see the unraveling of big government. Obamacare is unfixable. And the dominoes start to fall: Common Core, Social Security, Medicare, Amtrak, Post Office, Space Program, Bloated War Machine, Ag Department, FDA, EPA, The Fed. Stay calm. We’ll be fine. Just remember these programs don’t achieve anything anyway >> http://tinyurl.com/k5wh6g4
Out trolling for hits Dave, what’s the weather like on the west coast?
What gives this President the right to circumvent Congress in changing a law? That’s not within his power. He must either petition Congress to address the situation through an amendment to the law, or enact his executive priviledge. He can’t just say it and it becomes changed. The ACA states (and has stated since it’s passage) that the government will determine whether your health care coverage is adequate or not, yet does not go into detail as to what those qualifications are. They can’t make it up, nor change it, as these things are discovered. Under the ACA as it stands, no one who has lost their current insurance coverage under this Act can get it back. So, what amendment or executive priviledge was enacted for insurance companies to be legally binded to reinstate insurance policies that were cancelled under the ACA?
What’s the sound of a lame duck quacking…?
Yeah, I gotta Mulligan for good ‘ole Barry……
