People dog my ass constantly because I am so hard on them attendant to spelling and grammar, but this is a perfect example of why I refuse to retreat in regard to the “Queen’s English.” America just keeps getting dumber in just about every measurable, quantifiable category and no one seems to care. Graduation rates, writing, STEM, etiquette, civil discourse, business practices, customer service, common sense; you name it, and we’re sucking at it. Five words into a long essay, and the author has proven to me that he is poorly trained as a writer and too undisciplined / unprofessional to have a more intelligent person proof his work. Just as tainted evidence can kill an otherwise valid argument, so can poor delivery.
