U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration has been accused of tapping phone lines in the Vatican – monitoring the phone calls of former Pope Benedict XVI and his successor, Pope Francis.
In fact Obama’s National Security Agency (NSA) allegedly eavesdropped on the March 2013 conclave that elected Francis.
The allegations – scheduled to be published by the Italian magazine Panarama – are in addition to the massive snooping operation which targeted 46 million Italian phone conversations between December 2012 and January 2013.
According to the magazine, the NSA classified calls in four categories: “leadership intentions;” “threats to financial system;” “foreign policy objectives;” and “human rights.”
Obama’s administration is already under fire for its widespread surveillance of European allies like France and Germany … as well as its massive domestic snooping program.

No surprise here…..I’d sooner tap the Vatican’s phones than the Germans, French, British or others.
Only the most naive of the populace should be surprised that nations engage in espionage, wiretapping, and other means of gathering information, up to and including The Vatican.
