S.C. Sen. Tom Davis is hosting hearings across the Palmetto State next week on the implementation of U.S. President Barack Obama’s socialized medicine law – “Obamacare.”
These hearings have already frightened some in the GOP establishment who have demonstrated conflicted opposition to Obamacare (notably Nikki Haley). Who isn’t conflicted on the bill, though?
Davis …
“Washington D.C. has failed us,” the second-term Senator wrote on his Facebook page. “Time for the states to use powers reserved unto them to kill this thing.”
No mincing words there …
But while some fiscal liberals in Columbia – including Haley – are leery of Davis (and lobbied to strip him of his leadership role on this committee), S.C. Senate President John Courson has kept him at its helm.
Fiscal conservatives are thrilled …
“Tom is the perfect person to be leading this,” U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney told FITS. “He has rock-solid credibility within the Tea Party groups, but the business community knows he isn’t crazy. Conservatives look to him for leadership, but more establishment Republicans know that he is someone with whom they can work. He has that rare ability to find common ground without compromising his principles.”
Mulvaney says that “rare ability” is driven by Davis’ policy expertise.
“He understands the substance of the issue, but he also understands the politics of the issue,” Mulvaney added. “If we are going to figure out a way to help fix deal with this problem in South Carolina, Tom is the perfect guy for the job.”
S.C. Sen. Kevin Bryant – a member of the committee – agreed with Mulvaney.
“Tom has always been exceptional in articulating the principles of constitutional liberty and the role of government,” Bryant said. “As he chairs this committee he will help South Carolinians better understand how the UN-affordable Care Act violates these principles.”
“I look forward to sitting on the committee under this leadership.” Bryant added.
S.C. Sen. Shane Martin told FITS he knew of “no one else better equipped to chair this committee” than Davis.
More importantly, Martin added that he was looking forward to helping Davis when the fight over Obamacare moves to the floor of the S.C. Senate – where several fiscally liberal Republicans have been working with Democrats to expand Medicaid enrollment under Obamacare.
That’s where the real battle is going to be …
Anyway, we look forward to covering Davis’ hearings next week … getting into the meat and potatoes of what states like South Carolina can do to shield themselves from the impact of this monstrosity.

Dear Tom the Teatard:
18 USC § 2384 – Seditious conspiracy

States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the
Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to

or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to
seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to
the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or
imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
You just THOUGHT Obama was the Emperor of the US. It is obviously really carpetbagger Davis who can nullify federal laws.
He can try.
Dear Vanguard16, keep up the propaganda. You’re making me blush. Your pal, Stalin.
Obey your masters. They will use the law when it suits them and toss it out when it doesn’t.
Remember, the law is always moral and always right. That’s why the Founders were traitors to the Crown.
Vanguard16,
The USA founders dumped Great Britain.
Washington, Jefferson, Mason, Franklin, Madison et al … were they traitors, comrade?
“…but the business community knows he isn’t crazy.”
They thought they knew that. Now, they know better…just another Libertarian Ted Cruz wannabe.
Thats right and get used it cunt.
Get used? Like you shill boy?
Can’t wait until Obama gets a non-autoclaved colon cam up
his ass!!!
Yawn. How is this news? Didn’t every Repub say this for the past several months. I can’t wait for Shutdown 2.0 – South Carolina style…
Oust these fucks and let them hole their idiot asses on their property and secede themselves. No dreaded ACA for them, no dumbassery for the rest of us.
Gee.How fast can we get to that red light?

Davis is a idiot teabagger trying to get his name in the news.
Oh Tom is going to get his name in the news alright, so is his sidekick, something to the tune of “What goes on at the yacht club stays at the yacht club!” Not any more, pal. Its enough to leave one cold and …
Mace already has her name in the news. You know of others…?
Tom Davis was for Haley before he was against her. He was against Will Folks before he was for him. Within a year.
His solution? Nothing. The hypocrite. FITS plays into this guy’s hands like a child. Makes FITS less and less meaningful. Visiting this site less and less.
I think he has this right. We may need to resort to states rights to end the dictation of the Federal Govt on healthcare. This country is really going to get a sense of what they have in a couple of years. As for right now, they just realize that their insurance is being cancelled and the company sponsored plans are eliminating or considering elimination of family coverage and opting only to cover the employee. Rates going up all around. Women wondering why they need to pay for obstetrical coverage at 70 years of age? Or after hysterectomy? Or after tubal ligation? Better yet, men also need to carry obstetrical coverage despite they cannot deliver and cannot extend their coverage to their spouse or “baby momma”. One size fits all is not the right solution and does not save money.
Sebelius Admits She Has Never Actually Gotten on Healthcare.gov
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius dropped a bombshell during her testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee today, admitting that she has never successfully logged on to the Obamacare Web site, healthcare.gov.
The jaw-dropping confession occurred just minutes into the hearing, after Chairman Fred Upton (R-Michigan) asked Secretary Sebelius about some of the functions of the site, causing her to respond, “I don’t feel comfortable talking about a Web site that I’ve never actually gotten onto.”
Continuing to address the visibly stunned committee members, she said, “I’ve tried to log on to it, I don’t know, maybe twenty times or so, but every time I have it’s crashed. I tried again right before I came over here, but no such luck.”
When Chairman Upton expressed astonishment that she had not visited the Web site that she is charged with overseeing, Secretary Sebelius responded, “My Web people are telling me I should be able to log on to the site by the end of November. December 15th at the latest.”
Secretary Sebelius said that she would be happy to discuss Web sites that she had successfully logged on to, such as LinkedIn, where she recently posted her résumé.
Get over it, you losers.
I hope Obama does the same thing Andrew Jackson did the last time the idiots in Columbia thought about nullifyng things.
It amazes me how many otherwise intelligent people actually believe that the ACA can in any way be a good thing, at this point. A lot of people saw through it long ago, at the “you have to vote for it to see what’s in it” stage of things.
How intelligent people can not see that this thing was crafted to destroy our economy and our health care system and actually believe that it will benefit anyone (including those “poor” it supposedly would help the most), is beyond me.
Keep on with the “tinfoil hat” bleatings until you wake up one day with no money, no healthcare, and no future.
You miss the point. The point is that it is now law. Multiple attempts to repeal it have failed. SCOTUS let it ride. People aren’t saying they like it. They are just pissed at these politicians who grandstand against when they know it is a done deal.
Resisting a bad law, first by all legal means, is not a bad thing. It should be resisted by every legal means. If such measures enjoyed the widespread public support they deserve, we just might be able to make it happen.
My plan increased their rates to cover the ACA tax. So what is my choice? Drop my plan in protest?
For starters, support those who are trying to de-fund or otherwise squash this travesty. Obama lied through his teeth about this, as did his cronies such as Reid and Pelosi. While I am not a Joe Wilson supporter, old Joe told the truth when he said, “you lie”, to Obama. To let this thing continue to build momentum is to acquiesce in your own destruction, fiscally and physically.
Grandstanders like carpetbagger Davis have zero ability to de-fund or squash Obamacare.
Healthcare? Kill.
White? Black.
What do these pictures look like?
Obama lying.
Obama covering up Benghazi.
Obama being born in Kenya.
Bush catching bin Laden.
