WASHINGTON, DC – Today Congressman Jeff Duncan introduced a constitutional amendment, H.J. Res 98, that would require Members of Congress, the Administration, and Judicial branch to abide by all laws just like the rest of the public. H.J Res. 98 is the companion legislation to Senator Rand Paul’s S.J. Res. 25.
“This amendment is about fundamental fairness for the American people. Government officials should live under the law just like everyone else. I am proud to work with Senator Paul to bring transparency and accountability to all three branches of government. An important feature of this bill is that it also brings the Administration and the courts under the same laws as all other Americans.”
“No one in government should be above the law. The Paul-Duncan effort will ensure that Congress lives under all the laws they write.”

Sounds good to me!
Now we’re talking.
Git ‘er done. All parties should agree, no?
Why is it that Duncan, In his years as a state representative, said or did nothing about the special and very generous state retirement program that exists solely for the state legislature? Should not SC House and Senate members, in his words, “live under the law just like everyone else.”
The General Assembly Retirement program is very, very lucrative —
I’m interested in what the opposition to this amendment will sound like. True colors will be on display.
The bill will never hit the floor. No debate will be necessary. Continue working citizen, your check is needed.
Boomerang number of votes………..tumbleweed tactic…
Please…someone primary hapless Joe Wilson in SC-2! He is warming the bench for a federal pension. His focus is so narrow, his introduced bill is so self-serving that he certainly looks the other way on Benghazi, fired Admirals and Generals, and the DC Navy Yard shooting all the while gilding his lilly pad.
What a political stunt. Just another Teapublican, happy with his government check, government health care, and government retirement, and who needs to go.
Include this in a proposed 28th Amendment.

Another grandstanding buffoon.
I’d like to see them paid by the hour, and have it linked to the minimum wage.
Sure, he’s just another pol pandering to the audience — but I like the idea! Previously, congress had exempted themselves from insider trading rules for stock transactions. Why? So they could use their positions to make money. Under Duncan’s amendment, would congress be limited to the vacation time rules that effect federal workers?
Pandering and grandstanding is right, but at least Rep. Duncan and Senator Rand Paul are expressing the right sentiments. Congress will never pass this on their own, however; it will require a Convention of States under Article V of the Constitution.
