WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Mark Sanford (SC-1) voted against the Senate proposal, which extended the Continuing Resolution through January 15th and extends the debt ceiling through February 7th. This means the national debt will go up by roughly another $500 billion. The proposal did not include any provisions for long-term spending or entitlement reform.

“I opposed the bill that came before me in the House tonight for one very simple reason: It does nothing to address our national debt or our spending trajectory. It doesn’t make progress towards confronting the ballooning deficits that await us around the corner. It raises the debt ceiling and funds the government without making any changes to the things that are causing the national debt to continue to expand,” said Sanford.

“I think that this government shutdown is merely a preview of impacts to come down the road, which will be one hundred times worse, if Congress fails to get our financial house in order,” added Sanford. “At the end of the day two, beats one in politics and so here we see President Obama and Senator Harry Reid’s position win out, but there is a much larger takeaway regarding our need as a nation to have a conversation about changing the way Washington promises and spends.”

“I have fought for nearly 20 years against the expansion of government spending and the necessity of confronting our financial reality. According to the Congressional Budget Office in only 12 years every penny government receives will go to entitlement programs or interest on our debt,” added Sanford. “12 years is a blink of an eye and things are going to get progressively more painful and difficult if we don’t start making progress now.”

Well, dumbass, next time don’t make the entire shutdown and impending debt ceiling crisis completely about defunding or delaying Obamacare, something even Heritage Action admitted is completely fucking unrealistic at the moment, and actually go after spending.

Or, better yet, don’t shut down the government and threaten default just to cross your arms, stomp your feet, and demand you get a pony and roller skates.

You are hilarious. That is exactly what Obama has done. “No one will agree with me on Syria and I look weak! I will have to say no to compromise because it will make me look strong!” Ha – he looks like a dumbass. He will talk to the president of Iran but he won’t talk to the House of Representatives. Being a leader includes compromise. During this shutdown, the House of Rep. has brought multiples things to the floor to fund the government and the whiney president said no, repeatedly. He is not a leader. He is a spineless extremist who stomps his feet and bullies his way. He is a disgrace to the White House. Bill Clinton was a good president becomes he spoke with all parties, listened and compromised for the greater good of our nation. Obama needs to learn how to do that, but his arrogant pride stands in the way and unfortunately his tactics will not change. Come on 2016!!!

Mr. Sanford, when you hid and then admitted your affair, you asked for special treatment. You then ran for office, kowtowing to a public who forgave you and you got elected again. You asked for a special exemption for your bad behavior and got it. You are so typical of the GOP that seeks special treatment, waivers, and rules that the ordinary man and woman cannot get. We cannot shout to a president, “You lie !” and get away with it like you. You want us to accept you but you are unwilling or unable to accept the common man and woman. We have to have manners in the business world, but you think you don’t. We have to pay taxes. You think you don’t.

Mr. Sanford, you are typical of your party. You are a spoiled brat. And an imperious horse’s ass. A Little Lord Fauntleroy.

Your party has been thoroughly humiliated and defeated. Your party needs to get with the common man and work in collaboration with him and her and stop screwing him and her over with your shady tactics. We are a collaborative society and government. We have a social contract in place going back to the 1700s. We come together to make common cause. You don’t get the right just because you control one branch of Congress in one branch of government to order us peons to do your bidding. I am not your servant. And I will never, ever have faith in a Republican again, ever. You have painted yourselves into a corner and the Dems will shove your screwed up behavior down your throats for the rest of time. You are at risk through your bad behavior of becoming the minority part in America. So be my guest. Become more extreme. Become more crazy. Become more irrelevant. Behavior has consequences.

Good luck. The last 16 days has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that your party cannot lead or govern.

Don’t confuse free speech with a lack of good manners and proper decorum. The rules of civility are what make democracy work,

“The rules of civility are what make democracy work,”

lol, there’s so much fun in that statement. But if anyone in our early REPUBLIC knew about civility I suppose it was John Adams, Madison, & Jefferson-LMAO!

There were those engaged in politics at its lowest level on behalf of their candidates or patrons in that era, but the men mentioned above were gentlemen and conducted themselves with good manners and civility.

Mr. Sanford. You need to finish paying your penance in the house. Sit down and put pen to paper for what the conservatives in this state need. Get it up for a vote and get it passed. Then we’ll talk about upgrades.

You claim to have voted against the bill because it “does nothing to address our national debt or our spending trajectory” or make “progress towards confronting the ballooning deficits.” Ok, Mark. When can we expect a bill from you that proposes increasing revenues and reduces expenditures to big oil and agri-business? Why don’t you work for a bill that stimulates the economy and helps to create jobs in America and your home district? You are just blowing smoke. You voted against the bill because you do not want to provide health insurance to Americans. You are a disgrace to South Carolinians.

Sanford and Chapur might be impressed by their own stale analyses on the issues of debt, default and other global dramas, and perhaps it provides stimulating pillow-talk, but no one else is buying it. Every time I read one of her opinion pieces about US policies and world events , I am struck how the response to those articles mirror the criticisms of her paramour. People over look the flaws of brilliant people but admiration is usually lacking for the mediocre. Sad but true for them.
