Liberal U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham raised $1.2 million for his reelection bid from July to September – and has a whopping $7 million in the bank to fend off his challengers in 2014.

That is a mountain of money, people, although it remains to be seen whether Graham’s special interest haul will be enough to buy his way out of the hole in which he finds himself.
To put Graham’s fundraising totals in perspective, he brought in nearly ten times as much money as his nearest GOP competitor last quarter. In fact Graham’s current cash on hand is more than fifteen times what all of his GOP opponents have in their bank accounts … combined.
Charleston businesswoman Nancy Mace reported raising $150,000 from an estimated 2,000 donors – with $100,000 cash on hand. Meanwhile the campaign of S.C. Sen. Lee Bright (R-Spartanburg) said it raised $102,000 but did not immediately provide a cash on hand total.
“All of those details will be released really soon,” a campaign spokesman told FITS.
Meanwhile Upstate businessman Richard Cash – who raised more than $268,000 during the second quarter – actually posted a net loss this go-round. Cash’s campaign said it brought in $14,680 during the third quarter, but it spent $22,417 – lowering his cash on hand total from $246,000 to $235,000.
Bottom line? Graham’s three opponents need to get inventive, industrious and aggressive with their fundraising efforts … yesterday.

Graham is a prime reason there shouldn’t be a straight ticket option on the ballot machines for ANY party. He’s prostituted himself enough to clear the field in the primary, and since a Republican victory in November is almost guaranteed, he can blow all his money to save his own ass in the primary.

The one thing that the Colorado recall vote proved was that seven-to-one odds in money still doesn’t get you elected.
We can forget about getting him out until a qualified opponent steps up.
