Still more proof that the Administration sees this whole thing as a political game: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/oct/3/pruden-the-cheap-tricks-of-the-game/
Unbelievably callous and the sad thing is the media is continuing to fall for it. Interestingly enough more and more citizens are seeing through it. There is a day of reckoning coming to the current political “elite” on both sides of the aisle.
I hope that it will arrive soon, we can’t take much more of this.

” more and more citizens are seeing through it.”
Indeed they are:

By 72 percent to 22 percent, Americans oppose Congress “shutting down major activities of the federal government” as a way to stop the Affordable Care Act from going into effect, the national survey from Quinnipiac University found.

By 64 percent to 27 percent, voters don’t want Congress to block an increase in the nation’s $16.7 trillion federal borrowing limit as a way to thwart implementation of the health- care law, which Obama signed into law in 2010 with a goal of insuring millions of Americans, known as “Obamacare.”

A majority of the public, 58 percent, is opposed to cutting off funding for the insurance program that begins enrollment today. Thirty-four percent support defunding it.

The people most need to buy ACA to ensure it works – aren’t

Odd that prior to today multiple polls showed 57+% of Americans supported doing away with Obamacare.

If nothing else, the government shutdown has forced Americans to start truly looking at the ACA, instead of the Tea Party and Fox News disinformation. Opinions are rapidly changing, and that is what the Republicans fear most.

Since Duncan has favored shutting down the federal government, in the process costing thousands of Ameicans and South Carolinians paycheck, why can’t he set an example by sharing in their financial sacrifice?

Congressmen Mulvaney, Sanford, and Wilson, and Senator Graham have all pledged to give up their Congressional salaries as long as the shutdown continues.

How about it Congressman Duncan, put your money where your mouth is. Give back some of that $174,000 a year the taxpayers of this country pay you. Show us the strengths of your convictions. The people of your district and state don’t think that’s too much to ask.

Wrong, Mick, Sanfraud, and Graham have agreed not to cash their checks until the shutdown is over. They are not giving up one red cent. Its all show and no substance. They like Duncan are takers. They live on the backs of the Taxpayers. They love their government pay, their government health care and their government retirement.
But they are stronger than most. Like Frodo Baggins they bear the ring of government benefits around their neck without being corrupted. They do it for the rest of us who cannot.

I stand corrected–somewhat. You are right about Mulvaney. He will not accept his salary until the shutdown is over. However, to their credit (and I’m no fan) Sanford, Gowdy, Graham , and Scott have stated that they will donate their salaries during the shutdown to charity.
Tea Partier Jeff Duncan has offered to do neither.

Well we will see. In the meantime I see that only 100 congressmen, out of both houses (535 in total) have actually agree to “give up” their pay during the shutdown.

Of course they will probably just offset contributions they were going to make anyway.

The government shutdown is absolutely horrible and is the fault of the Democrats! But at the same time the government shutdown doesn’t really affect much, and is a good thing, and many Republicans campaigned on shutting down the government if it came down to it to stop Obamacare, so Republicans should get credit for that!

Democrats should be trying to end this shutdown as soon as possible! Republicans should continue the shutdown until they get what they want.

Democrats refusing to negotiate is absolutely horrible and selfish! The Republicans did a good thing trying to stop the ACA 42 times already and should continue to demand defunding health care reform and not let the shutdown end until then!

The America-hating Kenyan Muslim Socialist Marxist Communist amateur selfish arrogant uncaring [racial slur] President is going to take your house and all your money and put you on a death panel and abduct your soul for not getting health insurance! How could Obama be so cold to call Republicans terrorists for making unfair demands and forcing a shutdown?

How dare Obama not undo a vast portion of the government shutdown but still let there be a government shutdown so that Republicans can more adequately avoid blame while still receiving some credit too! There is absolutely no problem with Republicans refusing to pass a clean continuing resolution.

The mainstream media is unfairly putting the blame on Republicans! Fox News is fairly putting all of the blame on only Democrats and Obama.

Democrats just want to get a political victory out of this! Hey, just ignore Stutzman (R-Ind.) saying “We’re not going to be disrespected. We have to get something out of this. And I
don’t know what that even is.”

After all this Kabuki has ended, and the #shutdown is over, will Duncan scrub his idiotic Facebook updates?

Typical Republican BS…they were all Billy Bad when shutting the gov down, but now that they are getting flack from their supporters they want to fund “some” things.

The Dems have them over a barrel just like in the 90’s and the Republicans will come out on the losing end once again.
