By a 231-192 vote, the U.S. House of Representatives has voted to delay the implementation of Barack Obama’s socialized medicine law by one year – setting the stage for a shutdown of “non-essential” government agencies on Tuesday morning.
Two liberal Republicans (Chris Gibson and Richard Hanna of New York) voted against the Obamacare delay while a pair of conservative Democrats (Mike McIntyre of North Carolina and Jim Matheson of Utah) voted for it.
This was the House’s second gut-check vote against Obamacare – following last week’s move to strip the increasingly unpopular measure from a two-month spending resolution. GOP leadership – including House Speaker John Boehner and majority leader Eric Cantor – had initially sought to hold a symbolic vote against this job-killing monstrosity, but were forced by fiscal conservatives to hold their ground and actually defund it.
Republicans in the U.S. Senate have not shown the same backbone. In fact 25 of them – including liberal U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham – voted last week to let Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid move forward a budget that reinserted Obamacare funding, setting the stage for the partial shutdown.
Graham and his fellow “Republican” traitors later voted against the very budget they permitted to move forward – defying a group of fiscally conservative Senators led by Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
Shame on them …
Obamacare is more than just the most polarizing law in our nation’s history, it is an economic disaster waiting to happen (errr … already happening, actually).
That’s why we believe standing against it – knowing full well the political risks – is courageous.
Also the last time we checked a partial shutdown of non-essential government – particularly a government as sprawling and repressive as our federal government – wasn’t such a bad thing.
Seriously … why should government fund anything “non-essential” in the first place?
It shouldn’t …

Don’t defund, don’t delay. Repeal it now or be recalled.
It don’t work that way Frank. In order to repeal Obama would have to sign off on it as well as all the Democrats in congress. Ain’t gonna happen.
Just take you defeat like a good little asshole and stop making an idiot of yourself with comments with demands that will never happen.
I for one LOVE to watch the tears of impotent rage as the teapublicans face defeat at the hands of a “Muslim socialist from Kenya”. Yeah!!

Don’t forget BLACK Muslim socialist from Kenya
Oh shoot, I forgot the black part.
” Repeal it now or be recalled.”
We don’t have recall elections.
Theres more than one way to skin a cat.
South Carolina is dependent on the Federal government. If you weren’t such a partisan douchebag you would know why this is not a good thing for our state or our country. Hopefully it lasts up to the debt ceiling default date and the teapublicans vote for default. It will mean the end for these hateful assholes and their tea party leaders.
Regardless Obamacare is the law and is funded so will go forward whether you like it or not.
Fuck you! Ha Ha Ha…
Sic Willie, partisan? You got him all wrong, brother.
You’re right, it’s not a good thing for any state to dependent on the taxes (theft) of the other 49. Why surrender more responsibility and authority, becoming even more dependent? That’s the problem with liberal thinking, you can’t and don’t want to think long term.
So classy for you to laugh at the nation’s future hyperinflation and/or bankruptcy.
MashedBrains I’m laughing at the idiot fucking conservatards like you who think the American people are going to blame anyone but the republicans from any fallout from their grandstanding idiocy causes.
Remember just because brain damaged tea party simpletons believe republican propaganda that if Obama doesn’t cave to blackmail it is he that caused the shutdown. They won’t. I notice Gingrich doesn’t have much wisdom to impart on the subject of a shutdown. He caused the last one and he was put out to pasture because of it.
Can’t fucking wait for the republicans to follow through on their Kabuki dance so the American people can slam their balls in the door just like they did Gingrich.
Shut er’ down!!
You’re the one looking at this through partisan lens. I’m looking at the future of this country. In 2007 our national debt was $8 trillion. Now it’s $17 trillion. Medicare will be bankrupt in ten years, And Social Security has $50 trillion in future unfunded liabilities.
The country is mathematically bankrupt. What’s worse: government shutdown, or a government collapse?
When we start the cutting at the top with subsidies to corporations and oil companies before we do the poor and sick then I might take republicans seriously. Until then they are simply massive hypocrites in my book worthy only of contempt and derision hence my contemptible and derisive comments. I figured that was something even a tea bag simpleton could understand. I see I wasn’t wrong.
As to your question I’ll take door B, collapse, and all the consequences that come with it. Republicans are going to rue the day they held the nation hostage like a common criminal. I think the democrats may have finally caught on and are getting ready to slam the republicans balls in the door. I notice it looks like the democrats didn’t return for a Sunday session. I would say the democrats didn’t blink, it is the republicans move now.
I can’t take you seriously if you continue to see politics through partisan lens. D’s and R’s are so much the same, it’s a waste of time. The new paradigm is liberty vs. big government.
johnq,
“Regardless Obamacare is the law and is funded so will go forward whether you like it or not.” Dispite your lack of eloquence, you are correct, Obamacare is the law. However laws can and do change and funding to impliment these laws rests with Congress, not your Imperial President. This is the proscess that is currently taking place.
You have an impressive vocabulary and educated people understand that is your fallback position when logic fails you.
Cheers!
“Kill those whose opinions I dislike!” Typical liberal philosophy.
Really impressive spelling you got there with your education anon.
So says another peace loving liberal that preaches acceptance, tolerance, and anti-bigotry.
Except of course when it comes to not killing babies, having independent thought, being a christian, or different opinions. Then it becomes “fuck you, wish you were dead, die already”.

Boehner Advises Americans to Delay Getting Cancer for a Year
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — In a special Sunday radio address, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) delivered a health tip to the American people, advising them to delay getting cancer for a year.
“We’re involved in a high-stakes fight over our freedom from centralized government control of our lives,” said Mr. Boehner, speaking on behalf of his House colleagues. “You can do your part by delaying getting cancer.”
He added that heart disease, emphysema, and diabetes were among a laundry list of conditions that would be “patriotic to avoid for a year.”
“If you delay getting any of these things for the next twelve months, together we will win this fight,” he said.
In closing, he reassured the American people that in the event of a government shutdown, members of Congress’ health benefits would remain intact: “We want to be in tip-top shape to continue to do the excellent job we’re doing for you.”
SHUT ‘ER DOWN!
I just love it when the entire once GOP operates like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton trying to shake people down.
I once thought it was nitrate, as in additive, volatile. I think i understand though. Nit Rat. Disease a despair. Much more fitting.
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.” ~Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006
“The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents — #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome,
so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic.” – Barack
Obama, July 3, 2008
“Deficits don’t matter” — Cheney
It’s obvious deficits don’t matter to politicians, especially after they are elected to the oval office. So you see Ongoing I don’t care if it is a Republican of Democrat but it’s a Democrat that fills the seat now and saying “but, but Bush”, does little except make Democrats feel good. Don’t you think a $17 Trillion Dollar National Debt is just a little excessive?
17 trillion as a percentage of GDP is far from a record, but it needs to come down over time. We can handle it though, in fact the annual deficit has come down significantly since Bush left office.
Well James, when deficits were 1 trillion a year it shouldn’t have been hard to bring them down but Obama has added more to the debt than Bush did. The significance you speak of does not really mean much.
I’m old, retired and pretty well set but I fear for my grandchildren.
Congress already spent the money and promised to pay. There is no debate.
Either congress raises the debt limit so thew USA can pay or we default.
Yes, the debt limit must and will be raised, I get that, but we didn’t get to $17 trillion without both parties doing their fair share of spending. You still didn’t answer my question or are you going to continue to ignore it?
What question? I see 2 quotes from Obama, no questions. I’d be happy to answer though.
Sorry johnq, I thought you were responding to my comment to Ongoing didn’t notice your post time and edited my post.
It doesn’t give a shit. It is a soros operative. Division and despair is the name of the game.
defund ocare and fund the military… If pres. refuses to fund the military then impeach him…
Military pay will be funded when the continuing resolution is passed. Obamacare and the military are funded without the CR or raising the debt limit. Couldn’t impeach anyway, not enough votes even if there was a reason.
The closer the Affordable Care Act gets to implementation, the more desperate the Republicans become. If they believed the act would be bad for most people they would let it move forward; giving them a big, “I told you so” card. But the truth is they know most of what they have told the public about the act is a lie. They are not afraid of what it will do to the economy, they are afraid it will succeed and people will realize they have been lying.
The President, needs to stand firm. If Republicans want a shut down that’s their decision. Sooner or later the shutdown will end. My only wish is that Congressmen and their staff did not get paid, and their health care was shut down.
If you ever had any doubts that the Republicans are KOOKS, just read the comments on this thread . . . the election of our country’s First Black President sent them into CRAZYLAND . . . and if you doubt that this is what it is all about, go back to the very day that President Obama was elected – that is when it started and it hasn’t ended yet . . . . what the fuck will they do when we elect Hillary in 2016???
Pray tell…how is setting up a internet marketplace for private insurance companies to sell their products, something they have been too lazy or stupid to do before now, ‘socialized medicine’?
