COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 24, 2013) – The University of South Carolina football squad returned to the Bluff Road practice fields Tuesday afternoon.
The No. 12/13 Gamecocks are preparing for Saturday’s non-conference matchup in Orlando with the UCF Knights. Game time is set for 12:07 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on ABC with Dave Pasch and Brian Griese in the booth and Tom Luginbill working the sidelines. Locally, WOLO-TV will carry the South Carolina – UCF game, while the SEC Game of the Week (South Alabama at Tennessee) will be moved to WKTC, channel 63, in Columbia.
The Gamecocks (2-1, 1-1 SEC) and Knights (3-0, 0-0 AAC) will play in front of a sold out Bright House Networks Stadium (45,323) on the UCF campus.
The week off has helped defensive ends Jadeveon Clowney and Chaz Sutton, who have both been battling foot injuries. “They’ve been doing good,” said defensive line coach Deke Adams. “They’ve been working hard. They were banged up a little bit, but got a little rest last week. They’ve been practicing hard. They’ve been going the last couple of days so I look for them to be ready Saturday.”
Adams knows that it will take more than just Clowney and Sutton to slow down UCF quarterback Blake Bortles. “It’s important for all of them to play well, not just those two guys,” noted Adams. “He’s a veteran quarterback. They have a veteran front. They’ll give us their best. I’ve been up against those guys a number of times. I know how hard they play and know what type of atmosphere will be down there. It will be a big challenge for us.”
The Gamecocks are scheduled again to practice on Wednesday afternoon.
Tickets are sold out for the Gamecocks’ next home contest on Saturday, October 5, when Carolina hosts the Kentucky Wildcats. It is the third sellout at Williams-Brice Stadium in as many games this season. Additionally, the Florida contest on November 16 and the Clemson tilt on November 30 are sellouts as well. Fewer than 2,500 tickets remain for the annual Homecoming game, set for November 2 against Mississippi State, while approximately 10,000 tickets remain for the November 23 meeting with instate rival Coastal Carolina. That game, the first ever played on the gridiron between the two Palmetto State schools, is scheduled for 1 p.m.

still stickin gwith it
I am disappointed with the team. If there was a schedule to go undefeated, this was the year. All they had to do was win the first three games and then take the bye week. The Clemson win over GA was a gift…squandered. Shaw won’t make it if he keeps taking needless hits running the ball. Give the ball to Davis so he can find himself for 2014 under QB Connor Mitch. The team screwed up losing to GA…who cares about 2013. BTW, the school screwed the students at Brice by putting the big screen BEHIND them. Those kids are paying 20k a year to attend…at least let them see the big screen in the stadium! What a joke all around. Go Clemson? Yea…you heard me…Go Clemson!
So Connor Mitch is going to be the starting quarterback next Fall? Has anyone alerted Dylan Thomas about this?
If you believe in Clem’s sons University, then leave the University of South Carolina and go there! What a stupid comment!
The GoldSheet has UCF by 2!!
