U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has launched a filibuster of a short-term federal spending resolution – battling Democrats and members of his own party in an effort to block funding for Barack Obama’s socialized medicine law.
Vowing to speak until he is “no longer able to stand,” Cruz is attempting to rally GOP Senators around the budget resolution passed last week by the U.S. House of Representatives.
Unfortunately numerous “Republicans” have refused to support Cruz – including so-called GOP “leaders” like Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (RINO-Kentucky), minority whip John Cornyn (RINO-Texas) and 2008 GOP presidential nominee John McCain (RINO-Arizona).
“It will be a cold day in Arizona when we defund Obamacare,” McCain said. “I know how this movie ends. I don’t know all the scenes before it ends, but I know how it ends. We don’t defund Obamacare.”
McCain is right … because politicians like him refuse to take principled stands, choosing instead to hide behind meaningless procedural votes as the American taxpayers get reamed.
Cruz? He’s one of the few principled lawmakers in the entire U.S. Congress … which he’s proving capably with his filibuster.
“GDP growth over the last four quarters has been an abysmal 1.6 percent,” Cruz said. “Our economy is stagnant, and Obamacare is a big reason why. Jobs are being lost because of Obamacare.”
Cruz added that “Obamacare is an absolute disaster for small business.”
He’s right … Obamacare hasn’t even been fully implemented and it is already driving down hiring, hours, wages and incomes. In fact Cruz cited numerous specific examples of Obamacare’s negative impact on the economy – including major job losses at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, located in the swing state of Ohio.
Last week the facility announced it was cutting its $6 billion budget by more than $330 million “to prepare for health care reform.”
“That’s one very real manifestation of the train wreck that is Obamacare,” Cruz said.
Limited government advocates praised Cruz for his leadership.
“No battle has ever been won by standing on the sidelines,” said Nathan Mehrens of Americans for Limited Government. “It is time for Sen. Cruz’s Republican colleagues who have unanimously said they support overturning Obamacare to prove it by joining him in forcing the law to be defunded.”
We agree …

Oh lord.
Vowing to speak until he is “no longer able to stand,”
Well, at least he’s doing a proper filibuster.
Smirks, I am for you on that – as opposed to these faceless “holds,” but the parlimentarian of the Senate got it right in that this is technically not a filibuster, it is him calling a filibuster becuase he is going to walk up there and then talk for a really long time…
That’s it, it is not like at any moment he could win if Dems don’t keep enough peeps around to vote. The above comment about it being a fauxibuster is right on the money.
It’s not a “filibuster,” dipshit. The vote happens regardless. He’s doing a “fauxlibuster” where he’s simply talking. He can’t stop Reid’s stripping out the defunding language, but he’s getting his last bit of purity sunlight.
The Senate parliamentarian said, this evening, that it “is to be considered a time-limited filibuster because the orator has complete control of who can ask questions while holding the floor.”
?_?
UPDATE: As of midnight, the parliamentarian has changed his definition. I wonder why?
Fox news cut his audio and he stopped after 1 hour to catch his breath. What a pansy ass he is. He looks like an ugly woman.
Damn! That’s exactly what I thought; a trans-gendered-butch-woman-into-a-man! Fugly….?_?
Fool has reached way beyond his level of incompetence.
Of course, given the IQ of the average tea partier, he still looks like a genius to them.
Amen brother…amen
obviously Cruz is hitting a Marxist nerve when the PROGS start howling with ad hominem gurglings…
It is so amusing when liberal internet trolls question Cruz’s intelligence. He is one of the smartest people in the country. He is off the charts brilliant. That is not my assessment. It is a quote from Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, hardly a conservative, who taught Cruz. Yet ignorant fools like Nitrat still stick to their article of faith that anyone who disagrees with them must be stupid, as if they were even in the same league intellectually as someone like Ted Cruz.
He is a radical, intemperate, self-aggrandizing jackass. You Tea Partiers have no right to call yourselves conservatives. You are off the charts crazy and you will drive the GOP to extinction outside the South.
You do nothing but vomit insults and over the top ad hominems, and Cruz is the radical? LOL.
The majority of Americans are against defunding, and the majority of Americans want collaborative government. Go vomit on yourself.
A majority of the DailyKos, maybe. But a majority of Americans oppose the law, and more want it repealed than want it kept/expanded. Might want to sober up before posting again.

I appreciate the good laugh at you trying to belittle Cruz’s intelligence. Especially given the incoherence of your own put down. If Cruz is incompetent and is engaging in an act that further demonstrates incompetence, which seems to be the theme of your post, then he would be acting consistent with his (incompetent) nature and would not really be exceeding his level of incompetence. Arguably, he could only reach beyond his appropriate level of incompetence by in fact being competent.
Oh good grief . . . it was never in doubt that CL would be a Ted Cruz fan.
And classic CL – calling folks “liberal internet trolls” and “ignorant fools” and then a couple of posts later accusing others of vomiting “insults and over the top ad hominems”.
SC Blues,
You still do not know what an ad hominem is, do you? Pointing out that the point of someone’s post is ignorant and wrong and explaining why may be condescending and even a bit rude, but it is not an ad hominem. Ad hominem is where you refuse to address the substance of an argument and instead just attack the speaker (say by responding to an argument that Obamacare is a disaster because it will cause premiums to rise, force employers to drop coverage, and cannot be implemented as written by calling Cruz a crazy teabagging idiot, or whatever the insult of the month is on the left these days) . And do you consider liberal to be an insult? I think it is a perfectly valid, if hopelessly naive, way of looking at the world. If you feel that it is a dirty word, you may need to work on your self esteem issues.
FWIW, I like Ted Cruz and his politics fine as a senator. If drives liberals this crazy, he must be doing something right. I am not necessarily sold on him for president. He has displayed a worrying lack of leadership that one finds in President Obama. His filibuster would have been brilliant politics (rather than just political theater) if he had done the hard work before hand to sell Republicans on a strategy rather than just browbeating them into doing what he wanted.
CL –
Oh – I am quite aware what ad hominem means – certainly don’t need you to school me or talk down to me about it, you ignorant fool.
As usual CL, when you are busted, you slither and distort – guess that is why some say that “CL” stands for “Compulsive Liar”. You are nothing more than a conservative internet troll.
I just read on another thread on this very site where a poster has pointed out and proven what a big old hypocrite you are – but you’ll never see it CL – you are so pathetically impressed with yourself that will never happen.
The funniest thing about it is that you obviously fancy yourself so much brighter than everyone else – yet your posts expose you are nothing more than an ignorant buffoon. But, by all means, do carry on CL . . .
I do not think I am brighter than everyone. Ted Cruz, for instance, is far smarter than me or anyone else posting on this board.
LOL on you busting me. While I know it is not worth bothering because of your serial dishonesty, I’ll be happy to address this thread you vaguely allude to if you would be kind enough to link it. Kind of reminds me when Democrats talked about the huge coalition waiting to go to war with us in Syria. They could not identify any of them, of course, but there were many. A coalition of the unwilling to be named, if you will.
No surprise that you are in awe of the intellect of someone such as Ted Cruz – that is very fitting. Serial dishonesty?? Maybe you were thinking of yourself, CL the Compulsive Liar. And you can LOL all you want, but surely you can find the current threads on this site where you have posted – if I recall it is the other current thread about Ted Cruz – go look for it – cannot wait for you to come back and spin that one – always a treat to watch you slither and wiggle and just blatantly lie about what you or others have posted. And by the way, you earlier you compared Cruz’s “lack of leadership” with that of President Obama – you might want to wait until Cruz has been elected POTUS twice – THAT IS 2 TIMES – to make those kinds of comparison. For now I’d suggest you stick with comparing Cruz to someone more in his league – say a Rand Paul – as they are both lacking in many ways . . . Ta-Ta!
As I figured, not worth the trouble. I would note that neither you or Fred has contradicted any point I have ever made in this or any other thread, but you know that. That is why you have nothing but insults to offer. So I think it would just be easier to quote James Woods (he paints with too broad a brush, but you are certainly a good example of the type of person to which he refers):
“Trying to reason with a Liberal is like arguing with a drunk. You endure the screeching, weather the insults, and then get to pay the bill.”
I guess you do have a point about my Cruz-Obama comparison, though. Obama has confirmed his leadership failures in 5+ years of ineptitude, while my suspicions about Cruz are based upon much more limited evidence.
YAWN . . . did you say something, CL???
Yes Ted…..Go !
To HELL ! take your TEA Bagging LUNATICS with YOU ! ( and DON’T Come back ! ).
My thoughts exactly. I was hoping Fits would do the right thing and tell Cruz to go away. Then I remembered- Will only has one track.
How large can an IQ be when questioning the IQ of others, sometimes I wish I could buy people for what they are worth and sell them for what they think they are worth.
You sound Cruz-worthy…?_?
And you would be a lost leader.
Cleveland Clinic Director of Communications says otherwise Ted. In fact the clinic fully supports health care reform.
majority of doctors oppose obamacare…that’ s why actors were given white coats at all the Ocare pressers…to pose as md’s..funny…but sad…AMA is a liberal advocacy group representing less than 25% of md’s…but you wouldn’t know that if you swallowed all the propaganda fed by the partisan press…
Not true. More faux lies. Download the survey which their report was based. I have it if you need the link. It’s a hoot. The Doctors Group they call themselves. Obviously not statisticians.
The Doctors group is a very, very small number of doctors. Not even the AMA represents but a third of America’s doctors.
Obamacare is not healthcare reform.
(Reuters) – The world-renowned Cleveland Clinic said on Wednesday it would cut jobs and slash five to six percent of its $6 billion annual budget to prepare for President Barack Obama’s health reforms.
Affordable Care Act, now that’s an Oxymoron.
You people are idiots, my sister works there, they have been cutting for years. The bean counters control the number of nurses on a floor, not the level of care but the level of profit is the controlling factor. This is just a good excuse to downsize more.
For as much as you know about the Cleveland Clinic, your sister must be one hell of a bean counter.
Cleveland clinic laid off many of their people, today, BECAUSE of Obamacare – their statement.
If obamacare is sooo good, how come Pelosi, Reid, and Obama exempted themselves? I guess we all aren’t equal before the LAW anymore.
Not true……might not want to believe everything that makes rounds on Facebook. Go to Fact Check when you’re unsure of what you’ve read or heard.
“It will be a cold day in Arizona when we defund Obamacare,” McCain said.
So….sometimes in December then, when average lows in the Flagstaff area are in the teens.
Lows don’t usually happen in the day.
I see you’ve never been to Flagstaff.
Where is Tim?
Ted Cruz and the TEA party:
Neither one are worth the sweat off my balls………..
Proudly submitted by a REAL independent who is 100% capable of thinking for myself without needing the Koch Brothers,Sarah Palin or Fox Corporation feeding me groupthink mindsets:
SparkleCity
meh
LOL, a real independent capable of thinking for himself listing only conservative mindsets. SMH
Nope,
The afore mentioned individuals and media are the only ones with a real hard-on for feeding groupthink to gullible schmoes who lap that shit up and parrot every sentence and talking point word for word.
Really, “the only ones” and you call yourself a REAL independent.
As many like to say elections have results. You can gerrymander the House and Almost get there with the senate, those 25,000 votes in North Dakota don’t deserve 2 seats, but thats another story. The pubs swept the great north (carolina) state in 2012, just a hunch, but watch what happens in 2014 because they went nuts. Another hunch the Cruz lovers of this world fear Obamacare because it will be popular and go down in history with things like the civil rights act.
Heck in 20 years SC will have a white minority, unless the poorer white folks really get busy.
Lol. Put the meth pipe down.
you can’t argue with a sic mind
Anybody remember how Green Eggs and Ham ends?
Go Ted. Die McPain and Grahmnesty.
“representative” government doesn’t mean the best or smartest. it means people just like us, stupid and fearful mostly. but the senate should have some kind of barrier that would keep out a shithead like this.
I’m thinking Cruz loves his morning mirror time……bet his hairbrush spends more time as a mic than in his hair.
Cruz is not stupid, even if he is representing the ‘party of stupid’ as Jindal calls it.
Cruz knows he is mostly lying about ACA, but he also knows the party base is too deaf dumb and blind to know that.
He is earning his street cred with the Teapublicans for his 2016 run for POTUS. That is his only motivation.
Cruz is just another pol snookering the ignorant and credulous. This TP darling was born in Canada, attended private schools and graduated from Princeton. His wife is a VP of Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs. He’s a real son of the soil! A Man of the People! Take a look at his senate website bio — funny how it doesn’t mention Canada, private schools, Princeton or Goldman Sachs.
Looks like the toilets on the Carnival Cruz are overflowing.
He’ll make up for it by extending the Cruz.
It’s most interesting that this dip-shit, MR.TEABAGGER, is covered under his wife, Heidi Nelson Cruz’s Goldman Sach’s health care insurance plan, which costs a mere $40,000 per year. Did any of you rednecks know that Miss Heidi was is investment banker?
