The City of Columbia, S.C. police department (CPD) is investigating the attempted kidnapping of a female University of South Carolina student by a yet-to-be-apprehended assailant.
According to a University of South Carolina crime alert, a black male said to be “in his thirties, with short hair, stubble facial hair, and wearing black shorts and white t-shirt” grabbed the female student on Pickens Street (between Greene Street and Blossom Streets) in downtown Columbia at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
“He grabbed her arm from behind and instructed her to come with him,” the crime alert notes.
The woman was able to get away from her would-be-kidnapper and “fled the scene.”
USC students who support “campus carry” – or the right of concealed weapons permit holders to carry their guns on campus – criticized the University for its failure to keep students safe.
“Students on campus are vulnerable,” the group wrote on its Facebook page. “How many more armed robberies, rapes or attempted kidnappings must there be before the safety of students is taken seriously?”
Good question …
UPDATE: Well, well, well … according to Columbia police the woman in question lied about the kidnapping. She has been arrested and charged with filing a false police report.
UPDATE II: The charge against the woman who claimed she was kidnapped has been dropped and expunged from her record. Accordingly, upon the request of her attorney, we have removed her name from the article.

Maybe Alvin Greene is getting ready for another foray into politics and just wanted to show the young lady some pics on the internetz?
I’m sure Alvin will tell you this is all Jim DeMint’s fault.
“Just fire two shots in the air – from your shotgun” (!)
Better yet, just fire two Double Aughts at that Obamite SOB, and Trayvon his a$$.
The answer is the university will never take it seriously until it affects them financially. Until they are sued for victimizing students they will not care. Even then they will fight tooth and nail because they refuse to be wrong.
Post more “Gun Free Zone” signs… That should do it!

I wonder if this has happened yet in SC? I’ll bet the cops here wouldn’t say.

COLUMBIA — A University of South Carolina student was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with lying about an attempted kidnapping.
Rachel Mosser, 18, was charged with filing a false police report and false swearing.
According to a news release, CPD investigators have determined that Mosser lied when she told police that a black male tried to take her against her will as she walked along the 600 block of Pickens Street Tuesday morning.
“The suspect tied up valuable law enforcement resources, time and energy in trying to locate the so-called suspect,” said Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago in a release. “This case should be a clear example of how lying to police will get you in trouble every time.”
The university released a public safety alert Tuesday morning after a woman reported that a man had grabbed her from behind while she was walking at 10:30 a.m. on the 600 block of Pickens Street.
**** HOW DO THEY KNOW SHE LIED? ****
Yep, “A black guy did it!” (copyright, Susan Smith).
Agreed, how do they know she lied?… I mean, why should I trust that corrupt, anti-USC, anti-white, anti-civilization “police” force?… seriously, if she lied, give us the “facts”…
**** HOW DO THEY KNOW SHE LIED? ****
TBG suspects that they checked footage from relevant security cameras.
Can someone ask Ms. Mosser to send the kidnapper over to the Guvna’s mansion please?
She lied because her teacher told her if she was late to class again he would fail her that morning she was running late so instead of dealing with the consequences of her actions she lied they know she lied because she finally admitted that she lied after the police questioned her oh and by the way her last tweet before she deleted her twitter account was I don’t want to get out of bed
