Twenty-two-year-old newlywed Jordan Linn Graham could face life in prison after allegedly pushing her husband over a cliff one week after their wedding day.
On July 7, Graham’s husband – 25-year-old Cody Lee Johnson – fell to his death on an especially precarious section of the Loop Trail at Glacier National Park in Montana. Graham didn’t initially report Johnson’s “accident” to authorities (she waited four days to do that) – and has changed her story about what happened to him several times. Additionally, autopsy results released two weeks later indicated Johnson’s injuries were inconsistent with a fall from a cliff.
This week, after a two-month FBI investigation, Graham was charged with second degree murder.
According to Graham she and her new husband were having a heated argument which “intensified” as they approached the cliff. She claims he grabbed her by the arm as she attempted to walk away from him.
“After removing Johnson’s hand from her arm, Graham stated she could have just walked away, but due to her anger, she pushed Johnson with both hands in the back and as a result, he fell face first off the cliff,” court documents note.
Ouch …
Those who knew the couple say they aren’t surprised.
“She’d been telling people she knew she never wanted to be married, she just wanted to have a wedding, and that’s apparently what they were arguing about,” a family friend told The Missoulan.
