In case you missed it, the University of South Carolina athletics department is collaborating with its SEC East rivals at the University of Georgia in a “friendly social media competition.”

“Each institution will post an iconic photo to their official social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, September 4, at 11 a.m.,” a release from USC’s media office notes. “The photo that receives the most likes, shares, and comments from fans on Facebook and the most re-tweets on Twitter will win the competition.”

USC’s iconic image – taken by award-winning local photographer Travis Bell – can be found here (FB) and here (Twitter).

Meanwhile Georgia’s iconic image can be found here (FB) and here (Twitter).

The competition will end at 4:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday, September 5, although judging by the early returns the Gamecocks have this competition in the bag.

And judging by our founding editor’s “submission” (above), he still hasn’t lost that immature streak we all know and love.

Question… Does USC have any other players on the team besides Clowney? Apparently from the media’s standpoint the answer is no.

It’s disappointing to me that Sic provided something clever and it’s being ignored.
