U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) told The (Columbia, S.C.) State this week he has no plans to get involved in U.S. Senate races where incumbent “Republicans” are on the ballot.
“You know, at this point my position is that I am trying to stay out of races that have incumbents, so that’s what my decision is at least for now,” Paul told the paper.
Really? That’s incredibly disappointing news. Especially when incumbents like U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham are attacking our tax dollars and our liberties at literally every turn.
And attacking Paul, for that matter.
We hope Paul reconsiders this decision. He has an obligation to stand for candidates who support the ideals he claims to support – and oppose those who don’t. Furthermore, if he decides to stay on the sidelines in critical races … he should not be surprised when we stay on the sidelines when he runs.
In fact he should feel free to ask former GOP nominee Mitt Romney how that worked out for his presidential campaign …

Get over it. He’s an establishment man at this point. He’ll use the bully pulpit when it suits him, but he’s not going to rock the boat or stand on principle.
Bingo!
TBG
thinksfervently hopes that y’all are wrong about Rand.I think if he were truly an establishment man, he’d endorse Lindsay just like he endorsed McConnell. He would love to endorse Bright or Mace, but the possibility of securing the party’s presidential nomination comes with tidal waves of political pressure.
Also, close to 100% of the people that would be swayed by Rand Paul’s endorsement already won’t vote for Graham. The key is for Graham to get less than 50% of the primary vote and then everyone coalesce around his opponent.
He has learned from others’ mistakes, particularly his father.
His father has consistent principles. Rand is a power-grubbing sellout, like most politicians.
If that is true, why didn’t he run as a Libertarian instead of a Republican. Oh yes, he did run as a Libertarian once and then back to the Republican party.
Like all Tea Party people he had no clout as a Libertarian. They all have to suck off the teat of the Republican Party or else they fade into oblivion.
I believe you have a typo in your post. It is “constipated” not “consistent”.
It appears to me he is a sane man. Republicans fighting Republicans only weakens Republicans when they can hardly afford it. Seems wise to me to save your ammo for the opposite party.
What about using for what’s right. You can hunt for months and not bag anything because there might be one more point on the next rack.
If you are right, that means you know more than Rand Paul and have a better vision of the big picture than does he. Otherwise he would act rationally and do what you suggest. Is that what you are saying? Why don’t YOU challenge Graham? In a public forum, the differences would soon be apparent and we would elect you, right?
Hell yes. My campaign platform would be very simple. Rules:
1. I will vote NO on every piece of legislation that would increase any tax.
2. I would vote yes on any piece of legislation that decreased any one or more tax and did not violate rule number 1.
Easy Peasy :)
Sounds like you have it figured out and could beat him easily. So, are you running? I’ll vote for you.
Gotta Love the write in!! :)
What would his “support” do anyway? Moose Bait’s endorsement in South Carolina
of Lil Nikki (hey the two of them …wait! a menage de trios with me….!!..) is the only one that resonated.
Now you know why Jim DeMint stepped down. As a Republican and Senator, he was bound by party and Senate rules, which, were he to have stayed, he would have been outcast to be true to his conservative roots. Rand Paul is a captive of his political plans, which require a certain give and take in the Senate. He has been told that he will get nowhere, if he doesn’t back off. Look, I don’t like it either, but somewhere along the road, the pure of heart has to live in the real world. I am liking Cruz more and more as each day goes by, but I’m sure we will find that he is also not perfect.
My candidate will be the one who tells the truth all of the time and not try to weasel out of statements and commitments. I know that he or she will probably not agree with me on abortion or the limitation of government in banking regulations, but 80% would be pretty good. Restrict all bureaucracies, go back on the gold standard, make Congress, the Presidency, and Judicial COMPLETELY transparent, on the way to taking apart the FED – make it completely transparent, too, use Ben Carson’s health ideas, back our real allies, and have a military so strong that we can kill the snot out of anybody who dares to violate our national sovereignty. Free the justice department from its dark night of racism, truly end welfare as we know it, and find real psychological and physical help for the thousands of homeless and poorly provided for vets. In other words, pretty much reverse everything that Government has tried to do to us since 1916.
Very good summary! One ofnthe best and solid comments I have read here in a while.
I appreciate your sentiment, but I will choose another path. I’m done voting for the lesser of two evils. I will vote for the evilest MF I can find. Let them finish running the USSA into the ground so we can start picking up the pieces.
There has got to be a bottom somewhere.
I know. And I really did think like that, not too long ago. I am not wiser than you, either. I just don’t want things to get that bad. Don’t forget, I teach college. We get the creme of the crop. I think I have seen what will happen when things fall apart – and I firmly believe our nation would be invaded before we were able to “sort things out.” So, I have to have hope. But up to now, I’ve had no faith.
That’s a distinct possibility. Russia seems to be doing better financially so that pretty much leaves China or Latin America. I think Canada would step in if it were Latin America and China definitely has a vested interest in the USSA.
I think you’re spot on.
Thanks. I forgot to add one thing. America still has vast natural resources. People forget about that, because the Eco-freaks want people to believe we’ve used them all up. we still have vast resources of GOLD! not just oil and natural gas. We have the second largest source of lithium, after Russia. We have boxite, aluminum, titanium, three kinds of coal, lumber, silver, uranium, copper, and people who can be willingly turned into slaves for food and shelter. We are sitting ducks, if things ever get “that” bad.
We are sitting ducks…
Admiral Yamamoto respectfully requests a word with you.
Even if TSHTF, which I fear will happen, we are still a large country with a well armed citizenry, protected by 2 oceans.
Yeah, for NOW. You know in what high regard I regard your fine self, but I also know that the character of strong Americans is being bred out of the populace. The clock is ticking.
All great empires and societies have come to an end at some point in history. Why should the United States be any different?
Well Green, The Demlicans and the Repuklicrats are well on there way to getting us there. I’m hoping instead of fall we can have another first. Transform.
Edit: Well the democracy was actually second, but.. you know.
Yes,they’re all over, just like,Tupperware:all bottoms and no tops!
“In other words, pretty much reverse everything that Government has tried to do to us since 1912.”
Fixed it for ya!
TBG would be euphoric with 80%.
Not wishing to be a smartass, but Ron Paul’s website says,”… December 23, 1913, when President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act into law…” But 1912 is when they decided to do it in that little meeting in Jawjah.
Unless TBG has gone nuts (admittedly, a distinct possibility), you originally had “1916” up there. I was using the word “since” to mean “after”. ie “since 1912” = “beginning in 1913”. Not only Would I want to slay The Creature from Jekyll Island, but I would also like a shot at repealing the ol’ 16th amendment, as well.
I’m a perfectionist.. sorry. If it were in my power, I would drag out howitzer and fire the first volley! Even as long as I have known about it – since 1958 – I have found something new to hate about the Federal Reserve. every two or three days. What is worse is that there are very smart people who have cloaked themselves in the mystical navel gazing arts, enabling the worst to be accepted.
Perhaps he was reminded of Saint Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment.
Has a sitting Senator ever endorsed a primary opponent of another sitting Senator of the same party?
Yes I am a Paulbot and an avid member of the Republican Liberty Caucus. My Facebook avatar is a Stand with Rand graphic. But, I am disappointed that the young Paul does not have the politically consistency of his father. You are correct in chastising him for not supporting liberty movement candidates and campaigning against those who do not fight for limited government, individual and economic liberty. I can only hope that he will get back in the game and lead the movement again.
