(C.J. Spiller) Jerseys Are Cool

I was scrolling through my social media feed recently when I happened upon an entry from some guy dissing men who wear jerseys to football games. Specifically, the guy said jerseys were “acceptable for women and children,” but not for men.

“The only men who should wear a jersey are the men on the field,” he said.

Really? Well I love jerseys. I love my 1986 Cal Ripken Baltimore Orioles’ jersey, my 1994 Jeremy Roenick Chicago Blackhawks’ jersey, my 2001 Peyton Manning Indianapolis Colts’ jersey and my 2012 Andrew Luck Indianapolis Colts’ jersey. And I don’t care what anybody says.

Real men do wear jerseys. Because jerseys are AWESOME. Like this authentic Nike on-field C.J. Spiller Clemson University jersey …

Sweet, huh? And yes, that’s Spiller’s autograph on the back of the jersey … which makes it even awesom-er.

Spiller had a breakthrough season for the Buffalo Bills last year, scoring six touchdowns and amassing 1,244 yards on 207 carries (an average of six yards a carry). He also caught 43 passes for 459 yards and another two touchdowns.

At Clemson, Spiller rewrote the Tiger record book during his four-year career (2oo6-09) – becoming the only player in NCAA history to amass more than 3,000 rushing yards, 2,000 kickoff return yards, 1,000 receiving yards and 500 punt return yards.

His jersey was retired by the Tigers in 2009 – the year he was chosen as a unanimous All-American and ACC player of the year.
