With the 2013 kickoff of Gamecock football officially one week away, today we’re hyping up by listening to “Ride For My Team,” a Dinobrite Productions joint directed by Fabio Frey and Joey Thompson and featuring the lyrical stylings of Big Hurc, Suga Shane, Diverse, Ali Rah and FatRat da Czar.

What’s cool about this video is it features appearances from Gamecock football stars past and present – most notably 1980 Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers and 2010 NCAA Freshman of the Year Marcus Lattimore. But the clip also pays homage to numerous other USC greats including Brandon Bennett, Ryan Brewer, Mike Hold, Steve Tanneyhill and Troy Williamson – players who provided moments of greatness in Carolina’s otherwise undistinguished history.

Here’s the video …

Yeah … take out the brief appearance by corrupt Columbia, S.C. mayor Steve Benjamin and that’s a pretty solid clip.

Sixth-ranked South Carolina opens its 2013 season on August 29 at home against the University of North Carolina. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. EDT with ESPN providing national television coverage.

My church, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pomaria (located just off of Exit
82 in Newberry, County), is shown in the video at the 2:38-3:00 mark
and again at the 5:35 mark.

On January 10, 2013, our beautiful church was destroyed by fire. St. Paul Lutheran Church was organized in 1761 and stands on its original land granted by King George III of England. We recently celebrated our 250th Anniversary.

Over the last eight months, church members have been active in various fundraising events to aid the financial burden of rebuilding. If you wish to make a financial contribution, you may do so by making checks payable to “St. Paul Lutheran Church Restoration Fund” and mail to:

Lattimore looks like he’s scared he’s going to scratch the Ferrari (He’s already broken a bunch of George’s other stuff…)
