The Bradley Manning saga took a bizarre and unexpected turn this week when the former Army solider – who was recently sentenced to 35 years in jail for leaking classified documents to the media – announced that he was going to become a woman.
No really …
“I am Chelsea Manning. I am a female,” the 25-year-old said in a statement read by his attorney on NBC’s Today Show. “Given the way that I feel, and have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible. I hope that you will support me in this transition. I also request that, starting today, you refer to me by my new name and use the feminine pronoun (except in official mail to the confinement facility).”
Wow …
There’s even a pic of Manning in a wig and lipstick …
Somebody cue C+C Music Factory, people … because this is one of those things that makes ya go “hmmmmmm.”
Unfortunately for Manning, the U.S. military does not provide hormones or sex change operations to inmates incarcerated in its facilities – meaning Bradley … err, Chelsea Manning … will have to wait a long time to make his … err, her … big switch.

He should have gone with Peyton. ‘Cause that’s definitely a girl’s name.
Shite, I’ll fake being whatever kind o’ slut you like to stay off the chain gang.
Seriously, another hero destroyed by the USSA. Crying shame.
Chelsea wants you come up and see her/him sometime. Don’t forget to pay your taxes for her/her hormone treatments.
I have never understood this. I think he’s a deeply conflicted and disturbed individual and should have never been put in the position of responsibility it he was.
In the old days, all this would be known as a result of investigations for a security clearance. But now we don’t ask and don’t tell. Thus you get people who can be easily manipulated by blackmail.
Would not bang
If TBG was looking at 35 years, he might try some ruse to get into a women’s prison himself.
Bradley Manning: I want to live as a woman
Population of Leavenworth: Oh, honey, you will…

Voltaire said it best, those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. Amazing what a few years in solidary confinement and constant torture will do to a prisoner. Who will be the unpopular whistleblower?
BREAKING NEWS 9/22/2013: “Poor thing couldn’t handle it any more and hung himself or shot herself three
times in the back of the head! Terrible tragedy, but unavoidable.”
It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong.

I was traveling through Kuwait tonight listening to the BBC wax pontifically about how the Disciplinary Barracks should be forced to supply hormones and sex reassignment surgery as a “human right” – exactly when did the country with the world’s most powerful army and navy become such a bunch of effete wusses?
Maybe that’s why he did what he did.He can, most likely ,get those treatments in prison.Richard Speck did…
Not at the Disciplinary Barracks he can’t. I’ve been to Leavenworth
a few times for schools of one kind or another. The last time I was out there, we toured the old prison and the new one. Neither was a place you’d want to go. The old one harkens back to the days and the brutality of Angola or the old CCF in Columbia. Not a fun place. The new one is state of the art and is equally not a fun place if far quieter and brighter. Most prisoners are “non contact” meaning the cells have solid walls, doors and windows with almost no human contact outside of organized periods. He won’t get sex reassignment surgery and he might not even become someone’s “biatch” as the prison is run in a much more regimented and orderly manner than most.
I would now like to be called Wendy
