GOP Leadership Balks at Defunding Obamacare

Imagine that!

Who could have seen that coming?

Ray Charles and TBG, that’s who.

This whole “sabotage everything until I get what I want” mentality is absolutely retarded, especially since it isn’t being suggested as a way to defund abusive NSA programs and the like.

Obamacare will not die. Republicans lost in 2012. Get over it.

Amen. Last time I checked, Barak Obama won the 2012 election, with Obamacare clearly an election issue. Republicans are slowly going the way of the Whig Party, the buggy whip, the Wang computer, the Blackberry, and the Tyrannosaurus Rex (“tyrant lizard”).

The Republicans are against only the taxes and government programs they don’t like — they love farm subsidies, defense contractors, unfunded Medicare drug plans and corporate welfare schemes. Who are they in reality? The GOP is the party that proclaims freedom, but serves moneyed interests. Is their opposition to Obamacare about freedom or fiscal responsibility? Or is it about the perpetuation of the status quo which allows billions of dollars to be harvested out of the healthcare business — insurance companies, hospital corporations, pharmaceutical firms, physicians, et al. These elements all see the “gravy train” threatened and flock to the GOP, while 46 million Americans lack health insurance. Many Repubs of a Libertarian bent will say: healthcare isn’t a core function of government. Maybe that’s true. Healthcare isn’t a right guaranteed in the Constitution, but the U.S. is the richest society in the history of mankind, so we shouldn’t have citizens without health insurance.
It’s just not right.

The “R” ’s will never defund Obamacare.

If they open that Pandora’s box they know the Dems will defund their crony favors to the military industrial complex and a host of other corporate gov’t welfare recepients.

The whole system is thoroughly rotten.

told you already FITS: you lack the brain capacity to deal with national issues (how exactly will the law be a disaster? how does one ‘de-fund’ an item as complex as the ACA?) stick to cribbing notes from your drinking buddies. this stuff embarrasses. you.

My business’s health care costs are up 17% over last year- just like it’s been for the last 8 years. What’s the Republican solution? And yes, I realize Romneycare WAS the Republican solution before Obama made it evil without changing it.

‘The Amazon of health insurance’
eHealth CEO on what it will take to insure millions under Obamacare
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-amazon-of-health-insurance-2013-08-21

(Excerpt)
As CEO of eHealth, an online insurance broker that recently received government
authorization to enroll people in subsidized health plans in the 36
states with federally operated exchanges next year, Gary Lauer will in
effect be in charge of helping many Americans buy health insurance for
the first time starting Oct.1.

With 25 million to 30 million more people expected to purchase coverage
under the new ACA rules, Lauer is preparing for the individual health
insurance market—eHealth’s market—to double or triple in size. Since
eHealth sold the first health plan online in 1998, it has enrolled more
than 3 million people, 40% of whom were previously uninsured. At least
four other online insurance brokers also signed agreements with the
government to sell subsidized health plans, but eHealth is by far the
largest — in terms of sales volume, product selection and market cap.

The IRS workers don’t want Obamacare. The big unions don’t want Obamacare. Big article last week in Obama’s hometown newspaper, The Chicago Tribune about how this whole Obamacare should be scratched and started over. The Obama himself would not implement, what’s now, a 1/2 of its requirements and mandates? By the way, since when does a President just cancel parts of a law he does not like or want, without the Congress having a say in it?

Pro Tip/History lesson:

When Democrats (or “W”) have control they tend to massively increase the size and scope of the Federal government.(New Deal, Great Society, Obamacare etc.). The Republicans always promise that, when they get power, they will “undo”, “defund” or “repeal” the offending programs. BUT THEY NEVER DO. NEVER. NOT ONCE! EVER! IN GENERATIONS!
If you thought that if Mitt Romney was elected along with GOP super-majorities in the House and Senate, that Obamacare would have been substantively changed…YOU ARE A MORON.
Go ask some of the elderly GOPers (like the Lindsey Graham supporters), how the repeal of the New Deal is coming…..
