For years, documentaries have shown video footage of the “secret” American military installation known as “Area 51,” a facility in the middle of the Nevada desert where spy planes used to be tested. And if you believe the conspiracy theories – or the movie Independence Day – evidence of extraterrestrial life remains hidden under lock and key at Area 51, too.
Of course according to the government, the facility doesn’t exist … until now.
This week, the National Security Archive at George Washington University received documents from an eight-year-old Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in which the government finally acknowledged the existence of Area 51.
How’s that for a prompt reply!
The release of these documents “marks an end of official secrecy about the facts of Area 51,” Jeffrey Richelson of the National Security Archive told The Las Vegas Sun.
Yeah, yeah, yeah … we’ll herald the “end of official secrecy” as soon as they haul out those alien corpses.

Hell, I’ve been looking at it on Google Earth for years.

Some folks who used to work there have told interesting stories for years. None of them ever spoke of any extraterrestrials ( although I think they had been moved to that other AFB). Perhaps a few of them are reading Fitsnews, but fear ridicule if they post any comments here.

Back in the 90’s, late night radio talk show host Art Bell used to laugh about how they denied that there was an Area 51, yet he said a bus would come into Pahrump (NV) early every morning, clearly labeled “Area 51”, to take civilian workers to the site.
