“The Bigger The Lie”

U.S. President Barack Obama continued the celebration of his 52nd birthday by paying a visit to the set of NBC’s The Tonight Show in Burbank, California. And after chatting up host Jay Leno about his big day of playing golf and shooting hoops with college and high school buddies, the leader of the so-called “free world” offered a blanket denial of his government’s multi-billion dollar Orwellian snooping operation.

“We don’t have a domestic spying program,” Obama told Leno. “What we do have are some mechanisms where we can track a phone number or an email address that we know is connected to some sort of terrorist threat. And that information is useful.”

Wait … what? “We don’t have a domestic spying program?”

Then tell us, Mr. President – what’s this? And this? And why are government agents doing this? And why is information from this domestic spying program that supposedly “doesn’t exist” being used by the Drug Enforcement Administration in its ongoing war against individual liberty?

Riddle us that, dude.

The federal government absolutely has a domestic spying program – and Obama’s assertion that it doesn’t is demonstrable falsehood (one of many he has told the American people over the past five years).

Of course you know what they say about “big lies.” They’re easier to believe – and all you have to do to make them true is to continue repeating them.

Everything this man has said since he came out of nowhere from the bowels of Chicago is a lie. Orwell is rolling in his grave.

He was on with Leno. He thought they were telling jokes. You didn’t get it?

I love how critical Leno is of Obama in his opening monologues, then when he’s in the building they’re all BFFs.

I agree; however, you know Leno was given a list of questions he could and more so, those he couldn’t ask. Everything was scripted….

I watched it (or should I say listened to it). I can’t stand to look at the guy, and normally I can’t stand to listen to him. I just wanted to hear what bs would be spewing out of his mouth.

Technically it isn’t “domestic”, because we have rules in place against a “domestic” spying program. This is all the same awful, yellow legalism the last administration hid behind and something we can expect to get more of from the next administration (let’s be honest, there aren’t too many other ways to handle monitoring of legitimate terror networks, basic math works against alternatives, but sooner or later the data will be so cheap and the money too easy to not turn this into a war on all possible crime).

The stars are already aligning for that. Suddenly 49% of Americans, both left and right, agree to oddly proposed questions that give them a binary choice between destruction or citizenship that demands a compromised vision of the 4th amendment. Soon “they” will “cry out” for state and local expansion and you’ll hear some brand of it on the left and the right.

And the band will play on as the surveillance state moves closer and closer to the local level. Expect an explosion in things like civil forfeiture and crack downs on small fry dissent. It’s all economics.

If there is no domestic spying program, then why is the u.s. federal government trying so hard to arrest snowden?

What about Obamacare aka “The Affordable Care Act” and the Congressional/ Capitol Hill staffer exemption? Pelosi is afraid of a Brain Drain if these folks leave their cushy government jobs because they have to pay more in healthcare premiums (like the rest of us.). Mercy me. What’s good for the goose is not good for the gander?
