New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is invoking the memory of those lost in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in an effort to score political points against U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky). Meanwhile Paul says Christie’s political broadside was “sad and cheap.”
At issue? The federal government’s Orwellian domestic snooping program – which Christie supports (and Paul opposes).
Christie said a “strain of libertarianism” drove a recent vote to de-fund some of the National Security Agency (NSA)’s domestic spying measures. That measure – sponsored by U.S. Rep. Justin Amash – narrowly failed in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Still, the fact it received a vote in the first place clearly irked Christie …
“I want them to come to New Jersey and sit across from the widows and the orphans and have that conversation,” Christie said. “And they won’t, cause that’s a much tougher conversation to have.'”
Really, dude? Really?
Paul responded that it was “kind of sad and cheap that he would use the cloak of 9/11 victims and say, oh, ‘I’m the only one who cares about these victims.’ Hogwash.”
Good for him … Christie is positioning himself as another Lindsey Graham on this issue (well, only fatter). And that’s too bad. We had high hopes for Christie four years ago when he was elected governor of New Jersey. Unfortunately, he’s fallen in with the fiscally liberal, neoconservative wing of the GOP – which has exhibits about as much restraint when it comes to plundering our liberties as Christie exhibits when plundering a buffet line.
Anyway, both Christie and Paul are among the names most frequently mentioned in the conversation for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. In fact Paul is actively campaigning in South Carolina, with another visit scheduled for next month.

Shows how out of touch politicians are with NSA and the military……..we had similar foreign and domestic programs in place longggggggggggggggg before 9-11!

it’s important to take every opportunity to say that Rand Paul is the most insincere turd sack on the national scene. absolutely nothing he says makes any sense at all when pondered for more than a minute. to put an anarchist in charge of the government is so purely insane that i can’t believe south carolina doesn’t draft him as governor.
sorry, i meant poser anarchist. is there a word for that? poserchist? laissez-fraud? how bout just ‘rand’.
16.7 trillion dollars in debt.
Constitution in tatters.
Global reputation as a country full of complete jackasses.
Let’s keep doing what we’ve been doing, it’s worked so well.
If Rand is insanity, than it feels like most the other options are suicide.
If we just sprinkled the magic fairy dust back on the sacred scrolls everything would be “alright”….sure.
It’s not like the same thing would happen again, right?
Let Rome burn, get it over with so our kids don’t suffer as much.
Even if Rand had some guiding principle someone could describe that was of value, those still in office around him would simply impeach or ignore him anyway.
Get a grip. There is no “solution”.
99% correct. There’s a solution. It’s coming.
Ha, good point.
Unfortunately, even that one will be most likely temporary…but we can enjoy it while it lasts.
Idiot wind blowing every time your move your mouth
Blowing down the backroads heading south
Idiot wind blowing every time you move your teeth
You’re an idiot babe
It’s a wonder that you still know how to breathe
—Bob Dylan.
But you probably already knew that.
idiotwind? That speaks for itself!
Yes, because “I stand with Rand!” is brilliant commentary on your part.
Personally, “I sit for steaks!”, which is also profound.

Scalia Offers to Help Pope Judge Gays
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — Responding to Pope Francis’s suggestion that the Pope is not capable of judging gays, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia contacted the Vatican today to say that he would be “more than happy” to help the Pontiff do so.
“If he’s having trouble judging homosexuals, well, then I’m his man,” Scalia told reporters after making his offer. “I have over a quarter century of professional experience.”
Justice Scalia said that he was sympathetic to Pope Francis’s difficulty in judging gays, but added, “Once he spends a few weeks watching the master at work, I’m sure he’ll get the hang of it.”
“I wasn’t great at judging homosexuals my first year in the job, either,” he said. “But now I can do it without thinking.”
Justice Scalia said that once Pope Francis feels confident about his ability to judge gays, he would help the Pontiff learn how to judge minorities and women.

Should be a runaway for Rand. Obviously some of your readers aren’t very bright either.

Ever since there has been an IRS, POTUS has used them to “influence” detractors. Nothing new here.
Correct.
…but I think you commented on the wrong post….
NS. WTF? Hello? Demlican to the core. :)
You are correct. I had the accusations of Obama using the IRS as a hammer on my mind. If he did, he is wrong but my point is that it would not be virgin territory. Doesn’t excuse him but it does constitute the pot calling the kettle black.

I would hate to have to vote for him. He went off the reservation by kissing up to Obama. The man has absolutely no discipline. If he has, he would get some of the weight off his big ass.
