It has begun … “the crashing of the waves.”
For one week each July, our founding editor withdraws from the marketplace of ideas to recharge his batteries at an undisclosed location in the Dirty Myrtle (a.k.a. Myrtle Beach, S.C.). There he rides the wild surf like a Sea God … or something like that.
This year’s break runs from July 13-21 – during which time FITS completely shuts down.
To mark the occasion – and to ensure there is limited confusion regarding what’s transpiring with the site – we erect a “wall of water” over the site’s headline boxes.
Here’s what it looked like last year on our old site …

While FITS won’t be publishing during our one week vacation, we’ll be keeping a list of the stories we need to break/ cover/ comment on upon our return … so please keep sending your tips, links, comments, questions and suggestions via email or use our new Tip Wire if you prefer sending information anonymously.
We’ll be keeping tabs on all of those submissions …
Also, Sic will be randomly updating his Twitter and Facebook pages while he’s gone … so be sure to sign up for his tweets or “friend” him if you haven’t done so already.
And one final note … not long after Sic’s return on July 21st we will be unveiling FITS 3.0, the latest iteration of our ongoing experiment in new media. The upgrade – which is being beta-tested as we speak – will represent a major leap forward for us, and we look forward to sharing it with you not long after we get back.

Except for the gossip, and the freedom in the comment section, The State offers the same slant, and most of the agenda that FITS offers.
