Leaders of the Tea Party Express – one of the nation’s largest tea party groups – are in South Carolina this week for a series of high-level meetings, multiple sources have confirmed to FITS.
The group’s leaders are reportedly holding these Palmetto State confabs in an effort to get a “lay of the land” in advance of the 2014 elections – not to mention the state’s “First in the South” presidential primary in 2016.
The schedule of meetings reportedly includes discussions with elected officials, candidates, prospective candidates, consultants and activists in the limited government movement. However we’re also told the delegation is meeting with several establishment “Republicans” as well.
While there is growing support for many of the ideas being advanced by tea party groups, support for the tea party movement itself has waned in the Palmetto State. According to the results of a recent Winthrop University poll, only 3.7 percent of registered voters consider themselves members of the movement – down from 6 percent in February.
In fact the S.C. Democratic Party has taken to referring to incumbent “Republican” governor Nikki Haley by the tea party label – even though Haley has all but abandoned the ideological moorings of the limited government movement which elected her in 2010.

Smirks,
Let’s head over to these meetings with some tri-corner hats, posterboard, Sharpies, dictionaries with bad grammar, and Don’t Tread on Me flags. We’ll make a fortune.
Don’t forget the family packs of tea bags!

When the “Tea-Turds” endorse legalizing recreational drugs, prostitution, and a combination national sales/flat tax I MIGHT take them seriously.
From what I witnessed going to several Spartanburg Tea Party meetings, those folks are from another planet and forgot to wear their tin-foil hats at the meeting.
Mostly frustrated old or late middle-aged men and women with a smattering of paranoid-schizo’s thrown in. Plus a few hard-core wing-nuts who regularly write letters to the editor or bitch about something in “The Stroller” in the Spartanburg H/J and attend every Spartanburg County Council meeting because they are retired and have all the time in the world.
Even other tea party groups make fun of Spartanburg…they have a lot of “the crazy” in them.

AH! That makes it clear why they have taken to being “mentors” to the Myrtle Beach Tea Party. Same kinda peeps, just not all that good on the organizational skills. In fact, at this time, it is not even clear who is in charge. The current leadership mostly resigned a few months ago and cannot resume their roles for a couple of years, according to their by-laws. In order to be registered with the AG, it is assumed they must be in integrity with their own rules. If one believes in the rule of law … well, obviously, they may be trying to fool everybody, from the GOP to the “Tea Party Express” org, to their own membership.
“Tea-Turds”, that is great and very appropriate!
Unfortunately way too many Tea-Turds still in SC Politics today

High level tea party meeting? That is an oxymoron, isn’t it? Will they strategize about how to get a Gingrich presidency in 2016?
The simpleton tea party types don’t even have enough courage to create their own party. They have all but taken over the Republican Party. Republicans were so bat crap crazy about an Obama presidency that they welcomed them. How’s that decision working out?
And WIllie, Haley is most definitely a tea party politician. Palin endorsed her for crying out loud. Haley may disapoint you and other tea party types by having “abandoned the ideological moorings of the limited government movement”, but remember Haley is out for Haley.
The TEA Party isn’t dead, but it sure needs Medicare.

I’m pretty sure Governor Nimrata will be more than happy to re-adopt that label herself in her coming re-election bid. Let’s not posit this as a Dems-only labelling.
Does not make any difference. Haley will beat any democrat they can throw up…so who cares what the idiot, failed, loser Ds say???
I agree, South Carolina’s belief in a God of Second Chances is harder to penetrate than Fort Knox.

In SC, Moderates, like FITS, infiltrated the Tea Party.
You noticed the opposition to Amazon was shared by FITS and leftwing groups akin to the Occupy movement…These Lefttists use terms like ‘Level Playing Field’ (Google That term and its organization) and Corporate Welfare (there is no such thing)….as mantras…
Haley was caught up in it for a while, but she was called off of it by the voters…
Also: the tactic of claiming “They’re ((Rs and Ds) ALL ALIKE” even as Conservatives thwart Obama (2nd Amendment, Sequetser, Immigration) in Congress, is an effort by
Liberal-Tarians to dmoralize Conservatives, and make you think there is in-fighting…FITS insults EVERY Republican as a RINO (excpet Liberal-Tarian Tom Davis)…yet FITS is left of most Republicas, and more like McCain-Graham……
As Obama can no longer to claim Bush did it…and his failure becomes obvious…the only thing the Moderates, Liberal-Tarians and Leftists (who HATE Conservatives) have left is infiltrating the GOP…
FITS is a PRIME Example of the Tea Party being co-opted, and manipulated by the left…
Wow. Really? You need to up your meds.
I know others of your readers share your lechery for your more salacious photos of female thighs, but the pitcher of sweet tea – now there’s something to salivate over! Thighs…hmm…fried chicken thights….mmmmm!

You dumb-ass Southerners put sugar in tea – a sure sign (and stigma!) of your barbarian nature, and incestuous roots.
I also notice that the Tea Party is running an ad on this site: Tea Party Patriots
Fiscal Responsibility
Limited Government
Free Markets
Sound familiar, you sugar-in-tea-puttin’ whores?
Damn who wuda thunk it
Sugar in tea will cause you to stick your pecker in your 3rd cousin
This information needs to be forward to Republican Headquarters since Sweet Tea is their official drink
Hey Grand Tango, you need to switch back to Mother’s Milk, asap
This cold-climate clown probably drinks his tea warm!

The Tea Party began as a cause, became a business and then became a racket…
Nah, the Tea Party began as a racket and remains a racket. It was from its inception a creation by Republican party activists designed to energize reliable Republican voters to get to the polls. It relied on and continues to rely on resentment of others, racism, and fear as its motivating emotions. It uses code words like takers instead of minorities; small government, in place of cutting social security, Medicare and Medicaid; job creators for rich people who want to pay less taxes and want middle income people to pay for it; makers for everyone who is one of us and not one of those people; Socialist, Nazis, etc. for anyone who is not a Republican or for anyone they do not like.
It uses divisive phrases like “I want my country back.” Implying that those who do not agree with its members are not Americans and deserve no consideration or should be expelled from the country. It plays on the simple minds of uneducated people who are encouraged to believe that the Constitution is a simple document; easily understood. It extols the virtues of the “founders” the movement recognizes as founders, all of whom were “brilliant” yet were only able to come up with a document supposedly anyone could have written and understood.
The movement is blind as to history and facts and lives only on emotions.
