A magistrate in Richland County, S.C. has refused to dismiss a driving under the influence (DUI) charge against S.C. Rep. Ted Vick (D-Chesterfield).
Vick is currently facing a pair of DUI charges – one from May 2012 and another from May 2013.
Both incidents have become infamous – the first for Vick’s stunning hypocrisy (the married, part-time preacher had a 21-year-old woman in the car with him when he was pulled over) and the second for the bizarre defense strategy invoked by his attorney, S.C. House minority leader Todd Rutherford.
According to Rutherford, Vick wasn’t drunk at the time of his second arrest – he was stumbling around the grounds of the S.C. State House because he had a “pebble in his shoe.”
Ha!
Anyway, Rutherford sought to have Vick’s second DUI dismissed because law enforcement officers did not record the reading of his Miranda Rights. Prosecutors argued they were unable to do so because Vick was resisting arrest – an argument magistrate Mel Maurer accepted in issuing his ruling.
So Vick’s trial will move forward …
Frankly, we don’t understand Vick’s strategy …
His best bet here is to stop making excuses and take his medicine like a man. The more he (and his attorney) attempt to put forward nonsensical rationalizations in an attempt to explain his actions and evade responsibility for them, the worse Vick looks.

I really want to see that “pebble in my shoe” shit go in front of a jury…
That would be good.

When you’re as hammered as Vick, you’re too drunk to argue with such logic, so no wonder it sounds like an air tight defense to him.
He looks about 3 shades of pickled in this photo. Must have been taken after one of those 5 martini luncheons.
Somewhere there is a village missing their idiot.
Chesterfield County, the one that keeps sending him back to the Legislature, is made up of quite a few small villages. I’m sure several of them will claim Ted as their own.
They probably keep sending IT so IT’S not around to frack up the local politics.
Considering they elected him, I’m sure they’ve got plenty to spare.

Vick obviously does not follow campaign “rules” either. He got the sleeves rolled up part but failed to loosen his tie and unbutton his top button so we would think he was a “working man”.
I think it’s pretty much understood these days that no politician is a ‘working’ man. They are all nothing more than leeches sucking the livelihood out of real working men.
I agree. But they like to put on this visual act to try and fool the public.

If he has 2 duis in a year’s time, imagine how many times he didn’t get stopped. He refused the breathalizer, so is his license automatically suspended? Will he have to call him Moped Ted?
“Moped Ted”! OMG, that is great!!!!!!!!!
He will never loose his license. At best he gets a work permit license. Being a politic he can claim he’s always at work.
Not run-of-the-mill DUIs, either.
Epic DUIs.
First one involved IIRC, a gun, a coed, etc. The second occurred in a parking garage.
This ranks up there with one a trooper friend told me about many years ago….
He pulled over a car that was driving erratically on I-26 westbound near the 601 exit. (Orangeburg). Dude was naked as a jaybird. Trooper asked if he had been drinking….
“Couple of beers…”
“Where you coming from?”
“Party in Mount Pleasant.”
“Where you heading?”
“Straight home, Occifer.”
“Where do you live?”
“North Charleston.”
“You missed your exit….”
Forgot about the weapon. How was he not subsequently charged with a felony for knowingly transporting a firearm into a jail?
The second occurred in a parking garage.
Makes you wonder if he was too drunk to leave the garage.
that was me, true story. I’m just glad they didn’t find that 8 ball suppository. I made 800 in jail that night.

Out of curiosity, where was this pic taken? The inside of Stallings Salvage?

If his public history is any indication, Ted Vick has never been much of a man. So, how can he be expected to take anything like one rather than try to worm out of his problems?
Lying little coward is more like it.
Excellent point, Nit. Excellent point.
Not much of a man…maybe that’s just a pebble in his shorts.

Nothing to do with this story—-David Petraeus is teaching part-time in USC, what are they paying him? SC is the most forgiving state. They will vote and or hire anyone who was involved in scandals. No wonder I could never get anywhere by living a clean life.
Yeah, I heard David had a pebble in his pants!
Funny, I heard it was an NSA bugging device.

A real man accepts responsibility for his actions. Vick is a poor example of an honorable man. What a skunk.

Seems like May is a bad month for Vick. Maybe next year, his wife should lock him in his room on April 30th and not let him out until June 1st.

kinda makes you question the legal abilities/intelligence of Mr. Rutherford if the “pebble” defense is the best he can do with a highly public case….based on this I’d never hire him, vote for him, either.
Todd Rutherford is owned by Jean Toal. Vick will walk, No judge or magistrate will say or do anything to stop it. Todd will get paid handsomely from some Vick campaign account and Toal will get two votes over Pleicones. Wait, watch and see.
Toal has got to have pictures of legislators in bed with boys.

Man up Ted, and stop being a wussy boy.

I wonder if the young lady he was driving around with and probably banging is someone he picked up in church. You know, the church in the picture with Vick & his wife that he used in his campaign. Why doesn’t he just drive around with his wife & bang her, she’s not bad looking.
