University of South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is the best college football player in America. Period. Paragraph. End of story …
“Remember it, write it down, take a picture,” as Smokey from the movie Friday said.
No player is capable of taking over a game quite like this 6-foot-6, 274-pound freak of nature … and if you don’t believe us, ask his fellow 2013 Heisman Trophy hopeful Tajh Boyd – who was on the receiving end of Clowney’s 4.5-sack performance in last year’s 27-17 USC win over Clemson.
Clowney, 20, set school records for sacks (13) and tackles for losses (23.5) last year en route to becoming a unanimous first-team All-American. And if those numbers weren’t sufficiently impressive, Clowney put an exclamation point on his season with this unforgettable hit against Michigan running back Vincent Smith in the 2013 Outback Bowl.
No wonder the 2014 NFL draft is already being dubbed the “Clowney derby,” and why many believe he would have been the first pick in this year’s draft had he been eligible.
Yet while Clowney will make every Heisman Trophy watch list heading into the upcoming season, does he have a legitimate shot at winning the award?
According to the Las Vegas odds makers, “no …”
The best odds Clowney (who finished sixth in the 2012 voting) is currently getting have him at 12-1 … well behind 2012 winner (and 2013 favorite) Johnny Manziel and a host of other hopefuls including Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller, Southern Cal wide receiver Marqise Lee and Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
In fact Clowney ranks fourth in his own conference when it comes to Heisman hopefuls – falling behind Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, Alabama running back T.J. Yeldon and Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray.
What a joke …
In 1997, Peyton Manning was robbed of the Heisman Trophy because the sports-industrial complex decided it was time to give the award to a primarily defensive player – Michigan’s Charles Woodson. Now that there’s a defensive player who actually deserves it, Clowney is getting no preseason respect.
Let’s hope that puts a chip on his shoulder … particularly when the Gamecocks travel to Athens, Georgia on September 7 to play Murray and the Georgia Bulldogs.

And according to FITS, and RT, his idiot sports “EXPERT”, JD was slated to under-perform at SC, 2 years ago…SC fans were stupid to be excited about signing him…was the tired, cliché SC Sports media ideology FITS promoted…
Dumb@$$#$ will be Dumb@$$#$…and if FITS is an indicator, they will dis-avow their own words, and act like they CALLED IT, if it turns out differently…
You truly don’t come here for anything except saying Fuck Fits, right?
THAT’S AMAZING!!
Mr. Folks, are you sure that this person was not in your employ at some time?
Frank: If you don’t get it, you’re as big a problem as anybody…This is holding FITS to account for the Bull-S#!* he perpetuates….
Just like you and FITS Bowl Movement over Republicans all the time, while Obama is laughing at your Stupid accomplice @$$#$….. — But I’m calling out the irresponsible to account. That is the MOST ELEMENTARY step to try to clean up the mess imbeciles like you and the left have caused……
But you are like most Know-It-All Liberal-Tarians…You’re too F*@^ Stupid to think your way out of a P!$#d -wet paper towel…So this flies over your head. But if you had even half a brain, you’d know a F*##ed-up, dis-hones media (even punch-drunk, wannbe media, like FITS) is helping destroy the country…and sports reporting, in this case…
Dude, you turned a football article into political commentary.
lol….you are truly hopeless.
Or truly stupid.
Actually Frank, it wouldn’t be that big of a stretch for BigT/GrandTango and Fits to be the same person. It certainly draws attention to his blog.

JC is a victim of the Heisman being a mostly “offensive” player award.
In the 77 times it’s been awarded(according to wiki), only twice has it gone to definitively “defensive” players…and both of them were playing offense positions as well.
The other two times the position was listed as “end” and I don’t know if they were referring to defense of offense because it was before the two platoon system.
Maybe someone here knows off hand.
Either way, the Heisman is statistically speaking an “offensive” award(no pun intended).

JD will have a solid, yet unspectacular, season, what with the double-teams and the chopping and such. Expect Chaz Sutton to have a monster year, along with the linebackers on his side, since most of the plays will go to that side.

“Why is the best college football player in America not getting the respect he deserves heading into the 2013 season?”
Because defensive players never do. End of story. How is that Heisman doing for guys like Troy Smith, Sam Bradford, Matt Leinart, and Jason White?

Math must be hard for you Sakerlina guys.
I agree, though, that Clowney should be odds on favorite to win the Heisman.
