Catholics Mad At Barack Obama

Catholics are furious at U.S. President Barack Obama for comments he made in Northern Ireland this week – comments in which he implied religious schools teach “fear” and “resentment” while encouraging “division.”

“If towns remain divided – if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another and fear or resentment are allowed to harden – that too encourages division and discourages cooperation,” Obama said in Belfast.

Obama was referring to the longstanding battle between Catholic nationalists and protestant unionists in Northern Ireland – a conflict which has been raging for years, killing thousands of people. But he didn’t make that especially clear, choosing instead to lump all faith-based education into some sort of malevolent monster.

Catholics were livid …

“President Obama’s anti-faith, secular agenda was shamefully on full display yesterday when he told the young people of Northern Ireland that Catholic education and other faith-based schools were divisive and an obstacle to peace,” the group American Catholics for Religious Freedom said in a statement. “All Americans of faith should be outraged by these comments which clearly telegraph the President’s belief system and are in fact at their core even anti-American.”

Wow …

We agree Obama has a shameful contempt for the role parochial schools play in the education marketplace. In fact his slavish devotion to America’s failed government-run education system is not only contemptible – it is a leading cause of our children’s ongoing decline in academic achievement.

In fact ACRF acknowledged as much in its statement …

(Obama) can’t bear the thought that Catholic and parochial schools not only teach important values but consistently produce better educational results at lower cost than America’s failing public schools. 

Damn right …

And that’s the real issue here. Future generations are being force fed failure because the federal government believes its right to indoctrinate is superior to a student’s need to be educated.

The ability to read and write, to add and subtract … to think critically … these are concepts which know no ideology. And these are the concepts our nation’s students must first grasp if they are to succeed in life – not the revisionist history, eco-radicalism, anti-religion and other assorted politically correct crap our government-run districts are spewing at our kids.

And these are the things private and parochial schools stand ready to provide more students … if only our government would loosen its vice grip.
