Props To Nikki Haley’s Spokesman

Pretty much every word emanating from the pie hole of S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s spokesman Rob Godfrey is carefully cultivated B.S., but that’s not really his fault. He’s a spokesman. Spewing B.S. is his job – especially when it comes to advocating on behalf of the incompetent, hypocritical Haley administration. But…

But this website’s founding editor – also a former gubernatorial spox – has been particularly hard on Godfrey, mocking him with gleeful abandon for his advocacy on behalf of Haley’s “War on Fat.”

Why? Because Godfrey himself is fat. Very fat. In fact he’s “Orka fat,” as Keyser Söze would say.

And while we haven’t ripped him too harshly on these pages, over on Sic Willie’s Twitter page the taunting of Godfrey got downright cruel (including multiple references to Weebles wobbling but not falling down). Hell, things deteriorated to the point that even enemies of the Haley administration started calling us up and asking us to lay off Godfrey.

Our founding editor’s assholish response?

“Tell him to lose some weight and I’ll stop,” he said.

Wow … what a dick.

Well, Godfrey has done just that – and then some. According to multiple sources familiar with his recent weight loss, the Haley spokesman has shed anywhere between 80-100 pounds over the last few months.

That’s seriously impressive … not to mention an admirable display of personal responsibility worthy of emulation by the Palmetto State’s rapidly expanding obese population.

We don’t approve of Haley’s “War on Fat.” We think it is ridiculous for government to waste money on causes like that, although we do support efforts by S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) director Catherine Templeton to more tightly regulate food stamp purchases.

One thing we unilaterally support? Individuals holding themselves accountable and finding the willpower to improve their own lives – without the assistance of some unnecessary government program. That’s something everyone ought to applaud.

So props to Rob Godfrey on his remarkable progress. Let’s all wish him well and hope he keeps it up. And more importantly let’s hope more South Carolinians follow his lead …

Not fair. That’s like putting temple money in front of the Gov.

80-100 pounds in a few months? That’s not personal responsibility – that’s gastric bypass surgery. I’m sure his state health insurance covered the procedure, so if he did indeed have surgery, we paid for it. It’s a great day in SC!

lol….dude…I never even thought about the #’s….you are probably right. Although I hear fat people lose weight faster than those less obese.

Kudos to you.

We’re all familiar with her “type”. Godfrey doesn’t look enough like a giant rotten potato for her.

You don’t see the pure idiotic inconsistency here? Particularly, since Food Stamps is a US Dept of Ag program which SCDHEC has nothing to do with? All that DHEC time, costing money every step of the way, to hold hearings and promulgate a war on fat position for Haley to no real end – that’s a good idea?

Reminds me of the Papa Murphy’s pizza chain sweeping the country. Apparently they developed this concept, fully prepared uncooked oven-ready pizzas to go, to take advantage of the SNAP dollars elsewhere known as Food Stamps. Brilliant exploitation of a loophole, capitalism at it’s best. If I must heat up the oven just give me a frozen one – they’ve come a long way baby. Hah, a pretend Dominos, just brilliant. Next it will be unrefined alcohol in a jar.
