So when do the internment camps start? Because we did that shit to Japanese-Americans back in WW2. Let’s detain ALL the brown people, THEN we’ll be safe!

Seriously, fuck Graham.

Could we intern a couple in an outbuilding, you know, just to have a couple to clean the house and mow the lawn?

My understanding is that Graham is the lead in a new version of “Springtime for Hitler”:

How can those guys keep their personal lives so personal? Mark had an e-mail affair with an Argentine for 10 years without anyone suspecting anything and Lindsay goes to Ireland and no one knows who he was with and where they stayed. What school did they go to to learn how to cover their tracks while playing the field?

So you wanna cry about the data mining. So lets say the gubmint shuts it down. Then we have another bombing. Then you will all be crying about the terrorist. The other day our conservative SCOTUS delivered another kick to the balls of the 4th amendment with nary a whimper from the teabots or liberals. What’s up with that? Every police department in Amurka is using highway cameras and plate readers but no outrage. Methinks you whine too much about the wrong shit.

Now Graham is a Nazi (!), the same people who begat a war that killed tens of millions of people, with almost half of Europe’s Jews dead. What a perfectly reasonable historical analogy to a senator who doesn’t think data mining (!) is an affront to personal liberty. Since the Nazis murdered countless dissenters, I guess Will Folks–whose 1st Amendment rights must be under constant siege for his truth-telling–is showing bravery as immense as his waistline just to post this.

Salus populi est suprema lex, mother fucker.

Physical resemblances or behavioral… noting that Roehm had a reputation as being “light in the jackboots” back in the closet.

Just curious, can anybody give me one example of how “the federal governments’s massive Orwellian domestic spying initiative” has harmed one single American, other than an assault on our so-called precious and oft-misunderstood “rights.”. You have to wonder if those hundreds of Americans who died on 9/11 might have been willing to give up a little of those civil rights for the right to live a long life. There is no American freedom more basic than the right to live safely. Jeffrson’s phrase “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty” applies to that right if it applies to any.

Where, exactly, did you find a ‘right’ to live safely? Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness yes; safety – not so much. And Thomas Jefferson (I presume that is who you were quoting inappropriately since you butchered the spelling of his name) is spinning around (never mind rolling over) in his grave because his quote expressly means making sure the government doesn’t become tyrannical (you know, like King George and the House of Lords in 1775) again. Here is a Jefferson quote appropriate to the situation:

“When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.”

Get a clue.

Gillon June 13, 2013 at 2:49 pm

Thanks for catching the Jefferson typo, and since you are such a stickler for accuracy, I’m sure you meant the House of Commons rather than the House of Lords when you were referring to tyranny (you might look that up while you are researching quotes.)
Finally, is it your argument that the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness does not also imply living in safety? If it is, that’s just ignorance.

Reply
afmajret June 13, 2013 at 9:16 pm

Actually, I meant the House of Lords, thank you very much. Ignorance? Safety as a right? You’re delusional!
