Our hearts go out to the people of Oklahoma City, where a massive tornado touched down this week – killing at least 24 people (including at least nine children).
That death toll is expected to climb …
The massive twister – which measured two miles in diameter – first touched down in Newcastle, Oklahoma on Monday afternoon around 3:00 p.m. It then moved into Moore, Oklahoma – literally destroying the suburban town (including its medical center). Initial reports indicated the tornado was an EF-4, meaning it had wind speeds of up to 200 miles per hour.
In a bit of tragic irony, this same southern suburb of Oklahoma City was ravaged by deadly tornadoes fourteen years ago. In fact thirty-six Oklahoma City residents perished in that storm – which laid waste to the city on May 3, 1999.
The good news? More than 100 survivors have been located in the wreckage from the latest storm.
Let’s hope and pray that figure rises faster than the death toll …
America’s deadliest tornado struck Missouri, Illinois and Indiana back in 1925, killing nearly 700 people. The deadliest tornado in recent memory struck Joplin, Mississippi in 2011 – killing 162 people and causing more than $2.8 billion in damage.
UPDATE: Looks like some in Washington, D.C. are already politicizing this tragedy.

Dear Editor,
Please take note that Joplin is in Missouri, not Mississippi.
Sincerely,
Everyone not educated in South Carolina public schools
Mississippi, being such a poor state, can afford only one city with a “J” (Jackson) and two towns (Jumpertown) and (Jonestown)…..

They lowered the death toll on CNN. So I guess that’s good news… or CNN is just bad at news.
I saw some of it on FOX news this morning. It was in Oklahoma. That’s a
red state… so it’s Obama clearly targeting conservatives.
or CNN is just bad at news.
Pretty much.

Sadly: Some democrat politicians are already targeting Recovery funds for Ok. because some responsible elected officials were against all the waste in the liberal Sandy Relief money grab…
These people really have no bottom…if you are a leftwinger: Take A Bow…while I throw up…
Like assholes such as Sens. Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn, both Republicans?
Nice Try, you Liberal LIAR…Try Sheldon Whitehouse – D- RI…Dumb@$$…
Nice try, dumbass!
Heard the twister hit BigT’s house….did a million dollars worth of
Improvments
That would explain the fecal matter surrounding the Tango epicenter.
If the OK Republican Senators don’t believe in Gov’t disaster help, who will be picking up the OK tab?
