Hugh Leatherman’s Office Protested

From the “people are starting to get it” file, a group of protestors recently picketed the Pee Dee real estate office of powerful S.C. Senate finance chairman Hugh Leatherman (RINO-Florence).

Their beef with the longtime liberal (and chief architect of South Carolina’s “Lost Decade“)? His refusal to send an Obamacare nullification bill that cleared the S.C. House of Representatives to the floor of the State Senate for a vote.

Hmmmmm … so why didn’t they picket Leatherman’s concrete company instead? Who knows … we’ve never protested anything in our lives (except crappy service in the Wendy’s drive thru) so we’re not sure exactly how these things are organized.

Anyway, the Obamacare nullification bill – which was severely watered down in the S.C. House – has been drawing lots of attention lately. In fact one State Senator said “heads will roll” if the bill doesn’t pass the Senate, while another is taking some serious heat from S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley for placing the legislation ahead of one of her so-called “ethics reform” bill.

We’ve never had a problem with nullification, so long as lawmakers don’t use it as a distraction from the real socialized medicine problem in South Carolina – the perpetual expansion of our state’s Medicaid population.

In addition to blocking the nullification bill, Leatherman is also opposing a parental choice bill that passed the S.C. House a year ago – while at the same time supporting a push for universal government-run preschool, U.S. President Barack Obama’s top education priority.

Senator Leatherman has chopped the state treasurer’s office budget. My family member and about 15% of the workforce will be laid off.

Treasurer Curtis Loftis is making plans to start closing programs beginning June 1st because there will not be enough money to run them.

Loftis is a smaller government kind of guy how can he consider this a bad thing?

A weak Treasurer’s office is important to keep Leatherman’s empire well funded with boatloads of taxpayer cash. He hates Loftis and is working nonstop to cut his budget and marginalize him.

Leatherman is laughing all the way to the bank. His attitude to the citizens: “HAHAHAHA Screw you.”

Yes it’s true, I agree. Loftis is a watchdog for our money. Naturally Leatherman wants to strip Loftis of his staff. Fewer watchdogs.

They have stripped the Comptroller General’s office a few years back. It is now a shambles. With Leatherman taking out the Treasurer’s office there is no one left to keep tabs on the money. This is very sad.

So when Haley and Loftis preach smaller government I guess it applies to all agencies and offices except theirs..

Leatherman will outsource these SC jobs to his family and friends in Florence. Obamacare bill is without merit it has no teeth-like giving raw meat to a lion with no teeth.

According to the Florence Morning News, no one at the protest was even a SC resident. They were Teapublicans brought in from other states.

When your tax refund, paycheck or payment for services rendered by your
business does not arrive perhaps you will feel differently. Every
enterprise takes certain amounts of investment to keep it running.

Not
investing in basic personnel and equipment at the treasurer’s office is
a certain invitation for more waste of taxpayer money.

The Good Ole Boys like a treasurer’s office that does nothing. It means lots of money for them!

Leatherman is to South Carolina what Krakatoa was to Indonesia.

The Krakatoa volcano in the Sunda Strait of Indonesia began erupting on this date in 1883. A German ship, the Elizabeth, was sailing past the island and reported seeing a column of smoke and ash rising some seven miles into the sky above the mountain.

The activity continued for the next few months; locals held festivals to celebrate the volcano’s rumbling and spewing and occasional fiery bursts. But on August 26, a series of explosions blew the mountain — and the island –apart.

Sea water had gotten into the magma chamber, and when it came into contact with the molten lava, it was like cold water hitting a red-hot skillet. The resulting explosion was heard in Sri Lanka, 4,500 miles away; the tsunami it caused rose to 130 feet and killed over 36,000 people.

Krakatoa spawned a volcanic offspring before it blew up. Anak Krakatau, “child of Krakatoa,” began to rise out of the sea in 1927. Today, it’s about half the size of the original volcano, but it’s growing every day. It’s been spewing smoke, lava, and molten ash for the last several years.

The people who don’t want socialized medicine fail to realize that we already have it. The thing to do is take advantage of it. Admit anybody who seeks admission to the hospital, and if they lack insurance or other means to pay, then slip them a nice little intraveinous cocktail that will pleasantly put them out of their misery. It’s called thinning the herd. It’s either that or continue to subsidize sloth.
