OMG this is hilarious. This has gotta be a set up for that sitcom reality crapshow. He justified breaking his oath of office by doing drugs. He said it was okay, we shouldn’t hold him accountable because his drug use didn’t interfere with his job. He made superfluous arguments that drug prohibition is against the constitution, costs all kinds of money, hurts disenfranchised citizens, blah blah. What’s he gonna do, hold politicians accountable for not doing drugs? Well he won’t be very busy, then.

Ravenel made nearly a million dollars as the “middleman” with one investment at the SC Investment Commission during his 7 months as Treasurer.
He has spent a great deal of money since leaving office and has made very little. Legal bills, polo ponies and drugs are expensive.
He will run against State Treasurer Curtis Loftis and has told close friends as much. The Commission and all State House Crooks will be with him as Ravenel as Treasurer means the money flows as it used too.
Really? Loftis is extremely popular among small govt. folks, and that’s also Ravenel’s crowd. That would be a bizarre thing to do. It’ll be interesting to see if you’re right.
Loftis has a lot of support in many areas, not just small government crowd. There are a lot of people in SC that see him fighting corruption. He is pretty much alone in that regard and people know it.

There is tons of money to be made as treasurer of a state. Investments, banking are big money and that attracts people that like big money. Just today the Arkansas State Treasurer, a Democrat, was indicted because she got caught for taking money from investment companies.
In California and other places there are staff members of treasurers and pension plans that are in jail and/or under indictment. I work in an administrative job at a local brokers office and we hear these stories all the time.
