It is laughable to suggest that today’s citizenry is less sensitive to ethics and morality of public officials than in the late ’60’s and 70’s, particularly during the era of Watergate.
During the former era the public was stunned to learn of wrongdoing let alone be alert or attuned to the possibility of same. It was quite in contrast to today when every time some politician breaks wind a moral arbiter professing to know the only God is calling for his head. Truthfully, today’s same moralistic watchdogs take the presumptive posture that all public officials are reprobates except “their” politician.
Of course, after the obligatory appeal to God for forgiveness, today’s moral arbiters return them to public office and all is forgiven.
I find the premise outlined above hilarious. You boys ought to get out more and get a life.

Yes, they will appoint a special prosecutor to look into bureaucrats asking for additional paperwork from Tea Party groups that all got their tax exempt status. They tyranny of extra paperwork! It’s just like Watergate!
Or is it for the Sunday show “talking points scandal”? Or the Justice Department trying to find out the identity of the person that exposed our infiltration of Al Qaeda in Yemen? I can’t keep up.
