U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford got a rude reception upon his return to the halls of Congress this week. According to Roll Call, his own staff couldn’t even spell his name correctly – incorrectly listing him as ‘Mark Sanfrod’ in a press release on his new congressional website.

Take a look …

 sanfrod

Ha! That’s too funny …

The Roll Call piece quickly deduces that the spelling error in Sanford’s new “official website” was made by the U.S. House’s chief administrative office – which apparently put up a website shell without Sanford’s knowledge or consent.

UPDATE: The release has since been corrected …

You presume that she has the time or interest. Other than a potential interruption in shared custody of her younger sons, Sanford’s success at this stage, is a plus for all of them.

Well: If we’re to believe FITS, he wanted to serve democrat Jim Hodges. Sanford only hired FITS after Hodges would not….
FITS is now doing the work of the democrats, so I guess Sanfrod is having to use the small pool desperate enough to work for someone like him.

They can’t even spell Sanfraud right, went for the phonetic spelling I guess.

If you get busted, you can reasonably claim “Sanfrod” as a typo.

“Sanfraud”….not so much.

The description of the First Congressional District is even wrong. It has never “included the major tourist destination of Myrtle Beach”. You can tell already the high esteem in which Sanford must be held in Washington.

No kidding; but it gets worse. Georgetown County isn’t in the 1st District. It’s in the newly created 7th represented by Congressman Who? (with apologies to Alex Hawkins).Rep. Who is known in some circles as Tom Rice.

A Letter from John Boehner

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — Today Speaker of the House John Boehner issued the following letter to the American people:

Dear American People,

Yesterday, your hardworking House Republicans tried, once again, and failed, once again, to repeal Obamacare. And I really thought we had a good chance this time.

That’s because we were all united in our hatred for this infernal and takes-too-long-to-read law. Every last one of us cast his vote to strike it down, from crazy little Paul Ryan to that arrogant bastard Eric Cantor.

And I wish you could have seen the faces of those freshman Republicans as they voted to repeal Obamacare — so innocent, so full of hope and wonder. As I told them yesterday, “You’ll never forget your first time.”

It’s important for you to know that even as scandals swirl about the cesspool known as the White House, some folks in Washington are still working hard for the American people.

It was a gruelling week for me, what with popping up in front of the TV cameras every five minutes saying, “Who’s going to jail?,” plus trying to rid our land of Obamacare. But I don’t want your thanks. Save that for the dedicated House Republicans who have now voted thirty-seven times to repeal. You can’t put a price tag on that kind of performance. Well, actually, you can: it’s cost the taxpayers over fifty million dollars.

And worth every million, damn it.

One last thing. I know some of you are probably thinking that after suffering this latest defeat, we House Republicans are just going to take our bat and ball and go home. Well, there’s an old saying where I come from: the thirty-eighth time’s the charm.

Courage,

John Boehner

May Song
by Wendell Berry

For whatever is let go
there’s a taker.

The living discovers itself
where no preparation
was made for it,
where its only privilege
is to live if it can.

The window flies from the dark
of the subway mouth
into the sunlight
stained with the green
of the spring weeds
that crowd the improbable
black earth
of the embankment,

their stout leaves
like the tongues and bodies
of a herd, feeding
on the new heat,
drinking at the seepage
of the stones:

the freehold of life,
triumphant
even in the waste
of those who possess it.

But it is itself the possessor,
we know at last,
seeing it send out weeds
to take back
whatever is left.

Proprietor, pasturing foliage
on the rubble,
making use
of the useless — a beauty
we have less than not
deserved.

“May Song” by Wendell Berry, from New Collected Poems.

Medical science says you pick up viruses, bacteria, antigens, antibodies from all past and present lovers especially if you have unprotected intercourse. Based on these two lovers’ histories, that reckless endangerment alone would be enough to divorce him. In some states the adulterous sexual actions of a spouse are compensable but I don’t know SC law.

Obama Denies Role in Government

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — President Obama used his weekly radio address on Saturday to reassure the American people that he has “played no role whatsoever” in the U.S. government over the past four years.

“Right now, many of you are angry at the government, and no one is angrier than I am,” he said. “Quite frankly, I am glad that I have had no involvement in such an organization.”

The President’s outrage only increased, he said, when he “recently became aware of a part of that government called the Department of Justice.”

“The more I learn about the activities of these individuals, the more certain I am that I would not want to be associated with them,” he said. “They sound like bad news.”

Mr. Obama closed his address by indicating that beginning next week he would enforce what he called a “zero tolerance policy on governing.”

“If I find that any members of my Administration have had any intimate knowledge of, or involvement in, the workings of the United States government, they will be dealt with accordingly,” he said.
