Talk about killing two birds with one stone …
With one clever bit of editing, South Carolina “Republicans” popped a pair of Palmetto State Democrats this week – “re-disgraced” S.C. Rep. Ted Vick (D-Chesterfield) and State Senator Vincent Sheheen, the party’s likely gubernatorial nominee in 2014.
How’d they manage to pull such a two-fer? Easy: They took audio from Sheheen’s 2012 endorsement of Vick – who at the time was the Democratic frontrunner for the state’s newly drawn seventh U.S. congressional district – and played it over the dash cam video from Vick’s (latest) driving under the influence arrest.

I just spoke with a high level Democratic operative at the bar at Cola’s who assured me the Vick charges will be dismissed soon. He started blathering about what a fine man Ted is and all the usual drivel. Jean is on board, Harpo is on board and now it’s just spinning it out. A few deals will be cut tonight and this weekend. Before the session is over, Vick’s problems with be over. There’s a spot at the back of the Governor’s Mansion complex down on the back side near the compost heap that needs a security guard.

What I see is a very docile guy who appears non-responsive, and the officer to the left appears to be holding Vick upright to keep him from staggering or falling. The officer does not have a restraining ” grip” on Vick (in case he tries to run).

But when he tried to get in his truck in that condition, he was about to endanger some innocent people’s lives (not to mention his own, and he’s got a wife and kids who depend on him). The man needs help. He obviously didn’t get it after the first time he got busted. I hope one of his real friends steps up here and helps him get clean.

He really looks sad. I was a drunk for many years. Haven’t had a drop in almost 7 years. Maybe it’s time for Mr. Vick to get into some sort of program.
Well, all the numbers kept me from seeing his face and I couldn’t hear what he was slurring since FITS thought hearing Vince would be more amusing.
But, yeah, 2 DUIs in less than a year screams out for some inpatient treatment somewhere.

it will be interesting to see if Vick draws a serious primary challenge and a GOP challenger next year. His race against Richie Yow was a lot tougher than many thought it would be. Given this recent incident, it is not unimaginable that Vick could be knocked out in the Dem primary (if he draws a good challenger) or in the general election if the GOP is able to put together an election high tide. Remember the top of the ticket will be Graham/Scott/Haley/Rice or Mulvaney. Any bets on how much time Vick spends back in his district between now and filing season next year??
