I’ll just assume he meant to say, “slow the demise of the middle class brought about by systematic forces of globalization and technological innovation, though perhaps to our long term detriment due to burdensome debt levels.”

More troubling … the number of young Americans (age 18-29) who self-identified as lower-middle or lower class shot up even higher – from 25 to 39 percent.

Well no shit. Burdensome student loans have their effects, especially during a recession, and especially when employers don’t readily hire no-experience graduates, people with bad credit histories (see college loans, being poor, being young and stupid), or extended periods of unemployment anymore.

That debt is not able to be dissolved in a bankruptcy, meaning there is no escape. It is lost capital. Income-based repayment often still hurts like a motherfucker. That $30,000+ student loan makes one far less capable of affording a $15,000+ car or a $100,000+ house, especially for those who take quite a while to find a way into their selected career field, often at below-entry pay as a temporary worker. Shit, I’ve seen no-pay internships, those are becoming more and more common.

When you’re stuck rooming with 3 or 4 people and eating cup ramen, deferring your loans and going to countless interviews to no avail, it is hard to consider yourself “middle-class” by any means.

You are one Delusional B@$T@*d….
I think Obama got elected because Black voters Cheated, and the GOP paraded another Moderate in front of them…
But F*@kin idiots, like you think if you just keep repeating your ignorance, people believe you..
The democrat party has now backed itself into nominating a Black candidate for Pres…or the cheaters and tuned out will not vote, and you lose.
That said: for decent Americans, it seems Horrible right now…but corruption and fools won’t rule forever…it will crash on you…just a matter of time. It’s the law of humanity…

middle class misery is made worse by Republican rulers, who want to cut the safety nets and throw the needy to the sharks. They fiddle while Rome burns. The wealthy are doing just fine with their dividends and tax shelters and real estate and low interest rates at the bank for borrowing. The poor and middle income people live paycheck to paycheck.

The rich are destroying the poor.
