Like father, like son …

Days after his father Ron Paul endorsed embattled former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford in the Palmetto State’s hotly contested first congressional district, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) is following suit.

According to Peter Hamby of CNN, the younger Paul will endorse Sanford as early as this Tuesday – one week before the scandal-scarred politician faces well-funded Democrat Elizabeth Colbert-Busch in a special election for the seat he held from 1995-2001.

Despite his extensive personal baggage, Sanford appeared to have this race locked up earlier this month – until lawyers for his ex-wife, former S.C. First Lady Jenny Sanford, accused him of trespassing on her property in violation of the couple’s 2010 divorce agrrement. Since then Sanford’s campaign has been in free fall … with its modest lead over Colbert-Busch turning almost instantaneously into a nine-point deficit.

National “Republicans” have bailed on Sanford, while D.C. Democrats have stepped up their investment on behalf of Colbert-Busch – a former six-figure taxpayer-funded bureaucrat and sister of famous faux conservative comedian Stephen Colbert.

Paul’s endorsement of Sanford is part of a broader Palmetto State pushed aimed at building support for his 2016 presidential aspirations.

According to Hamby, Paul will pay a visit to the state in late June to raise money for the S.C. Republican Party – which dissed him earlier this month when it chose U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) as the keynote speaker at its annual Silver Elephant fundraising gala.

You misspelled your first name. It’s “J-e-f-f,” as in Congressman.

“Paul’s endorsement of Sanford is part of a broader Palmetto State pushed
aimed at building support for his 2016 presidential aspirations.”

Because SC did such a great job of picking the eventual Republican presidential nominee last time… Oh, wait…

How come Colbert-Busch is described as an inividual who was “six-figure taxpayer-funded” but not Sanford or Paul? In fact, Sanford and Paul as a Congressman and Senator were able to root from the public trough much larger salaries than Colbert-Busch ever has. Oh, and you left out your usual “plus benefits” comment.

Really, Paul has been in the Senate for not even 3 years, and probably gave up a more lucrative job as an opthalmologist to do it. The guy does charity eye surgeries when the Senate is in recess, this guy is no public trough sucker. And I know Ron refused the federal pension.

Yeah, but as an ophthalmologist, he would actually have to earn that money. Not so, as a do nothing Senator. If you looked at pay per hour, I think a Senator makes out much better than an ophthalmologist.

Rand Paul does charity surgeries to keep his certification. He ha planned on continuing doing paid surgeries, but senate rules forbid it. He was surprised to find this out, so he started doing surgeries for free so he could go back to work if he gets voted out.
