(Columbia, SC) – Below is a statement from South Carolina State Treasurer Curtis Loftis following this morning’s hearing at the State Supreme Court.  The Court will render a decision in due course.

“This morning I was privileged to attend a hearing before the South Carolina Supreme Court in a matter initiated by the Retirement System Investment Commission.  It was refreshing to hear the Court discuss these important issues.  I appreciate the Court’s energetic attention and thoughtful analysis of the issues.  I am grateful for the Justices’ obvious consideration of the interests of the citizens, retirees and taxpayers of the State.

“The Treasurer’s Office will continue to work for all South Carolinians.  As always, my staff and I will endeavor to work constructively with the Retirement System Investment Commission to protect the funds set aside for our retirees.”

Curtis Loftis is doing a excellent job as treasurer. I heard him speak last night in Charleston and he truly moved the crowd. It was a rare thing to see. Afterwards, people were shoving business cards at him,

Politicians should watch and take notice. Do what you say and do what you promise and it pays off.

Not one word about how Curtis turned tail on the issue that got him before the court nor his keen desire to stop the hearing in its tracks so that he can continue to bloviate and fall on his face over political gestures.
He didn’t know that he had gone too far. That’s not a good sign. Wonder if Mallory Factor, the John West Professor at the Citadel and famous GOP bundler gave him this bad advice?
