Dear Editor,
The Governor should keep handling things, as she does. We are blessed to have her. The one thing I noticed after moving here in 2005 was that the ruling party has (too) much power, and the governor, not enough.
I am a Republican, so I’m talking to a bunch of Republicans. You should work with, and for, the Republican Party, and the Governor, giving her the tools for the job, that you so jealously hold.
I helped run Ron Lewis’s campaign for the second district of Kentucky. We won the second district race. The first Republican EVER, to win that district since Kentucky became a state. A governor given the proper tools, some of which are held by the Republicans in the state house, can really get things done. Help her, she’s a gem.
Thank You,
Joseph A. Swift

Nikki Haley is a gem?
What can one say–but “ahem”?
Certainly, the guvnah’s plucky.
Maybe she should run Kentucky.
Heavens! Am I being fair?
Horses can be curried there.
…. HAW! HAW!

Obviously, the writer of that missive is not a SC state employee, retiree, or future retiree.
All three classifications have been royally screwed by her highness at every opportunity.
—- yep!
As usual, H!!!. I’m just gonna vote up….
I’m betting someone she appointed a high-paying job (or related to that someone).

Joseph….. Glad to see a new personality on Fitsnews. Always feel free to jump in, but don’t get discouraged if some “common-taters” disagree with you – just take the heat and then give it back to us. With your adoration of the beloved Nikki, don’t forget to burn some incense for her – daily!

I’m just wondering — if Joe is related to Zach.

Wonder if Jenny Sanford will switch to a “non-endorse” in the Governors race leaving Haley in limbo this time around, like she did with her erstwhile husband in SC-1?
She should take care of herself, never mind helping others. Bet Mark is unhappy w/o her endorsement and Haley probably put Jenny on the short list to make sure to be on her right side in the next Governor election.
I agree. Better to stay out of it altogether and give a donation to one of her charities than support that duplicitous and suspect duo.
Where does Jenny’s “horsepower” come from, to put her in the position of endorsing anyone?
She’s just another “CARPET-BAGGER”.
Hey, she’s probably been in the area 20+ years as a productive and charitable citizen, and run a bunch of SC campaigns where her candidate won. If she stays out of the spotlight and people stop asking for her opinion, I’m sure whatever gravitas she has will fade with time.
If she’s a carpetbagger, whatever will you be calling Chapur? Or is she safe because she is definitely south of the Mason Dixon line?
Chapur would be a “carpet bagging gold digger”, you should be able to figure that one out yourself.
And what does running a campaign have to do with anything? Why didn’t she “RUN” campaigns in her home state?
Perhaps the “natives” were on to her?

This letter seems staged by FITS, like the ‘Big T’ persona. “Ruling party?” Who supports the paradigm political parties rule? Oh yeah, FITS. No wonder dumb asses vote for politicians who blatantly steal from us instead of public servants who respect our rule.
Better I should ask, who bothers to use brain enough to even recognize this paradigm of weakness? This fella follows party rhetoric like a hypnotized cow and can’t be bothered to engage brain in disciplined fact finding on servant performance. Yup. FITS approach.
Maybe this fella’s a youngster like FITS writers, and his bumbling use of English isn’t staged. After all, IQ is dropping (Search on “US decreasing IQ”.Here’s one study: http://www.isteve.com/iq_table.ht). This would explain a lot.

I’d wager that the average Republican-voting South Carolinian has a lot better image of Nikki than the political junkies here and elsewhere. Maybe not distinctly favorable but not unfavorable. Criticism and accusations that are the daily grist (and gist) of blogged opinion and discussions among the politically enthused are simply a distant murmur or unheard altogether by the average Jane and Joe McGoober. If they listen at all, they hear other politicians criticized as well, so Nikki’s no worse. They certainly don’t care about her nonostentatious oft-reworn dresses and slightly ostentatious boots; they would tend to see–in their eyes–a young attractive surprisingly successful professional woman with a hint of brassiness or wild streak. That is not something southerners tend to dislike. And most simply do not hear the arguments opposing the accuracy of their image of her. Heck, they still think that Saddam had WMDs and attacked on 911. They don’t pay much attention.
