Elizabeth Colbert-Busch’s “Shaft” Ad

Who’s the black private dick That’s a sex machine to all the chicks? (Shaft) ya, damn right Who is the man that would risk his neck For his brother man? (Shaft) can you dig it? Who’s the cat that won’t cop out When there’s danger all about? (Shaft), right on…

Who’s the black private dick
That’s a sex machine to all the chicks?
(Shaft) ya, damn right

Who is the man that would risk his neck
For his brother man?
(Shaft) can you dig it?

Who’s the cat that won’t cop out
When there’s danger all about?
(Shaft), right on

They say this cat Shaft is a bad mother
(Shut your mouth)
But I’m talkin’ ’bout Shaft
(Then we can dig it)

For you youngsters in our audience, those are lyrics from the Isaac Hayes-written theme song for Shaft, the 1971 “blaxploitation” classic starring Richard Roundtree as the inimitable bad motherfucker, John Shaft.

Why are we writing about Shaft today?

Because’s he’s referenced in a horribly condescending, borderline racist radio ad released by the campaign of Elizabeth Colbert-Busch.

The ad accuses South Carolina Republicans of trying to disenfranchise black voters in South Carolina – which is an especially ironic charge in light of the allegations at the heart of the “Richland County Robbery” (in which black elected officials and a black elections manager did this).

Nonetheless …

“Somebody doesn’t want African Americans to vote – and it doesn’t take Shaft to figure out who,” the ad’s narrator states, with Isaac Hayes ripoff music bumpin’ in the background.

The ad then proceeds to bash former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford, who is running against Colbert in the May 7 special election for the South Carolina first congressional district.

“He cut education, he cut job training, he cut health care,” the narrator states. “And then he took a hike on the people of South Carolina.”

Wait … didn’t Colbert-Busch just issue a press release accusing President Barack Obama of spending too much money? Why yes … yes she did. Now she’s bashing Sanford for cutting government? Which is it?

It’s also hilarious (to us) that the spot makes three mentions of “Tuesday May 7” as the day to vote – because Colbert-Busch’s camp obviously believe black people are stupid and need to be told the date of the election three times in a one-minute spot.

Hard to get blacks motivated on election day unless they can implement their Racism (like Obama and Alvin Greene)…So I hope this get them in the booths.
That said: I hope FITS’ Desperation and obsession shows Busch has a chance.

Maybe democrats crossed-over and voted for Sanford in the GOP primary, because they wanted him to beat…

I don’t know the data…but I also heard Busch does not care to debate…which could be a sign she’s the leader…
PS: I LMAO: FITS and Sanford called Voter ID a move to suppress minority voters…I bet these 2 Dumb@$$#$ wish they had not said that, now…

“horribly condescending, borderline racist radio ad released by the campaign of Elizabeth Colbert-Busch”

On the surface seems totally out of character for such a Genteel Southern Lady such as Ms. Elizabeth

Would strongly urge fitsnews to look a little further into the wood pile for there is bound to be found lurking in there someone who unbeknownst to Ms. Elizabeth slithered out and committed this dastardly deed without her knowledge or permission

I have friends in Charleston who are reporting daily that when Ms. Elizabeth is spotted on the street that traffic comes to a standstill

Just yesterday another example of her popularity was displayed as she was walking down Meeting Street near Market when one of the Carriage Horses spotted Ms. Elizabeth. The horse broke free of the carriage abandoning the driver and riders and galloped up to Ms. Elizabeth to nuzzle her. Onlookers clapped, cheered and wept.

Ms. Elizabeth’s admirers are getting to be so numerous that the City of Charleston Police Chief has urged Ms. Elizabeth to limit her personal appearances so as to prevent commoners from being trampled

Republicans always try to prevent minorities from voting, this is known. What’s controversial about it?

If blacks did not vote in such RACIST patterns, and get caught cheating so much…Sanford would not be $#!**ing himself over it…especially when Sanford has a record of HATING everything that does not benefit him, personally, but he would pander to the Black Gestapo…

Hope this bites him in the @$$.

That would be a FELONY (preventing minorities from voting) and a violation of the Voters Rights Act.If it is known and you have knowledge of such crimes you are required by law to report such. Give me the names of the individual preventing minorities from voting and I will do it for you. If not,SHUT THE HEck UP. Thanks.

The black panthers sure did a good job of voter intimidation without prosecution. The only reason the libs and Dems are making a fuss about voter ID is it make it harder to cheat. Why anyone would not support a voter ID. What don’t you need ID for ?. I can’t wait to hear the disenfranchised next gripe.

Voter suppression belongs to the Democrat’s KKK and the “slave-crackers” and “slave-breakers” in the SEIU and New Black Panthers drag. Shameless in winning at any price are our Dems.

Fitsnews, if you think that radio spot is “borderline racist” you had better not read some of the comments your article has attracted. And how is it more condescending than any other political ad, or any other ad, for that matter?

Little wonder that the current ex-Mrs Mark Sanford has decided to keep it classy and NOT endorse either candidate. In recent years, she would know better than anyone what it was like to be shafted by the Republican challenger.
