Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta – a.k.a. “Lady Gaga” – turned down $1 million to perform at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida last year. That’s according to a slew of documents unearthed as part of a lawsuit involving entertainment at the quadrennial partisan event.
The suit – first reported by The Washington Examiner – was filed by GOP nonprofit group American Action Network against Wyoming-based Cater America LLC, an event management firm. The case revolves around the cancellation of a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert at the GOP convention due to Hurricane Isaac – but it could spill over into other issues.
In fact Cater America is reportedly countersuing American Action Network over a Journey concert that was held at the event.
Anyway, included in the documents is a list of performers the GOP wanted to lure to the convention (along with the amounts they intended to pay).
